Fortnite’s Borderlands Crossover Continues With The Psycho Pack

With the much-anticipated Borderlands 3 landing in just over two weeks, whoever at Gearbox made the decision to have a promotional crossover with Fortnite deserves a pat on the back. The games are just different enough to not compete directly with one another while sharing similar gameplay loops. Plus, with much of Fortnite's playerbase skewing younger, Fortnite x Mayhem is a great way to inform them about Borderlands, considering that the last full game in the series was released way back in 2012.

The first part of the crossover came with yesterday’s v10.20 patch, which added the Pandora Rift Zone to the Battle Royale Map. Found near the oasis at Paradise Palms, this brings part of the Borderlands world Pandora to Fortnite – along with a couple of gameplay tweaks. And now you can look the part while you’re exploring and fighting within it, as the Psycho Bundle has just hit the Item Shop.

Priced at 2,000 V-Bucks (or $20), this will get you the Psycho Bandit outfit, a Claptrap Pet and the Psycho Buzz Axes weapons (and the outfit and pet are both of Epic rarity). The outfit looks the part, too, translating Borderlands’ warped Mad Max aesthetic quite nicely to Fortnite. Though perhaps it’d have been a little more inspiring to play as one of the game’s heroes rather than basic cannon fodder.

Plus, adding Claptrap to Fortnite is certain to be divisive. While (apparently) beloved amongst the fans, for me he’s one of the most annoying characters in the whole of gaming and I’d be more likely to pay to get him to leave me alone. Still, if you like Borderlands and you like Fortnite, this seems like a no-brainer.

The Psycho Bundle is in the Item Shop under the Feature Items tab. Enjoy it while you can though, as the Fortnite x Mayhem Borderlands crossover ends on September 10th.
