Eight character posters for The Hunger Games have debuted, featuring the profiles of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Haymitch (Woody Harrelson), Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Cato (Alexander Ludwig), Rue (Amandla Stenberg), Effie (Elizabeth Banks), and Cinna (Lenny Kravitz). This is the first look we’ve gotten at Haymitch, Effie, and Cinna, who are each major characters in Suzanne Collins’ book.

Let’s begin with the good: Cinna looks great. This image of Kravitz is pretty much exactly how I pictured Cinna in the book. Cinna is supposed to be a member of the Capitol, and yet, he is unlike the others because he keeps his appearance minimal. Besides his golden eye make-up, of course.

As for Haymitch and Effie…I’m not so sure. Effie looks like Johnny Depp in Alice in Wonderland, and Haymitch just looks terrifying. At least Effie is supposed to be over-the-top. Haymitch is supposed be a drunk, but not a scary-viking drunk with blonde hair. He’s supposed to be a good-looking, approachable yet drunk brunette. I still think John C. Reilly would’ve been a better choice.

Besides that, everyone else is looking perfect for their roles. I especially like the actress cast as Rue, Amandla Stenberg, and her poster might be the best of the bunch. Check them out courtesy of First Showing.
