Singer-songwriter 21-year-old Taylor Swift snagged the title of Billboard‘s Woman Of The Year on Friday, which she accepted at Billboard’s Women in Music event in New York. Swift is the youngest artist ever to win the award.

According to Billboard, the award “celebrates the achievements of a trailblazing female recording artist during the past twelve months and acknowledges her overall success and leadership in the music business.” You can say that again, Billboard. Swift’s latest album, Speak Now, has sold 3.7 million copies domestically and more than 40 million digital sales internationally.

Taylor Swift was also named Artist of the Year by Billboard in 2009, and her 2008 album, Fearless, won Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards. Speak Now wasn’t nominated for the award this year, but Swift did get three nominations: Best Country Album of the Year for Speak Now, Best Country Song for “Mean,” and Best Country Solo Performance – also for “Mean.”

I love Taylor Swift and couldn’t be more proud of her, but sometimes she seems to be a polarizing figure. Let us know what your thoughts in the comments.
