Atom Egoyan's Devil's Knot premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last month and was promptly picked up by Image Entertainment. While the film has received mixed reviews so far, getting nabbed for release is always a good sign, especially for a director, so now it's time to look toward what Egoyan has coming up next. We've known about Queen Of The Night for a while, but now that title is no more, as the film, which Egoyan also wrote, will now be called The Captive.
How I Met Your Mother is back this week with the fourth episode of its final season, and there are already a ton of questions to be answered. Will Marshall make it in time? Can Ted avoid doing something to ruin the wedding? Is Barney mad about what he saw at the carousel? And most of all, where is the Mother?
Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity dropped into theatres this weekend and is already a hit. In addition to the almost-unanimous glowing reviews, the film now holds the title for the highest-earning opening weekend in October, with a projected $55.55 million coming in at the box office.
Woody Harrelson has one of the most menacing stares of all time. If you don't believe me, there are two things you can do. Either watch any of his previous roles where he glares holes through people, or just watch the new preview for Out Of The Furnace, where Harrelson tightens his jaws, furrows his brow, and stares his way through everyone in one of the best trailers of the year.
With the announcement of a Harry Potter spin-off film coming in the form of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, some have been wondering what other supposedly-dead franchises might be primed for a spin-off film. One franchise that I'm sure its fans would want more of is Twilight, and today, while talking to Catherine Hardwicke about her new film Plush, I had the opportunity to ask her about the possibility.
October is here, fall is in full swing, and most importantly, the main string of weekends with award-contending films has finally begun. Between the excellent horror that comes naturally with Halloween's looming presence and the awards races that are beginning to take form, October is always a great time for movies, and this year doesn't look like it'll be any different.
Finally after years of knowing Mac has a bit of an interest in dudes, the characters on It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia address it. I wrote in one of my reviews last year that I wouldn't be surprised if we got an episode titled something along the lines of Mac Bangs A Dude and sure enough, we got just about the closest thing with this week's episode Mac Day. How is Mac Day close to him banging a dude? Well I'll just say at one point he greases up some beefcakes.
We still have over half a year until Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters, but it seems Sony is confident that film is going to be as well received as the first one in the franchise. They've already committed to at least four movies set in this Spidey universe, and now the writing trio of Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Jeff Pinker have signed on to come back and write The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
Crazy regenerative powers, awesome adamantium claws, the berserking rage of an rabid animal, the most badass mutton chops ever, AND a 4-disc Blu-Ray set complete with an unrated extended cut? Some superheroes just have it all.
As How I Met Your Mother's longest wedding weekend ever drags on, if the episodes don't bring the laughs, some people may seek out vengeance with the furor of Inigo Montoya. After all, in just one weekend, how many exciting things can happen? There's got to be some humor to balance out the moments of just waiting for the wedding day to finally come. Fortunately, this third episode of How I Met Your Mother brought the laughs and then some, delivering one of the funniest episodes for the show in a long, long time.
