In yet more comic-to-film news, Deadline reports that the vampire-themed graphic novel Last Blood will be receiving the sliver screen treatment, with Simon Hunter set to direct. Taking advantage of both the current vampire fad and zombie mania, Last Blood will be a thrilling survival horror set in a zombie apocalypse where the vampires are protecting the last of humanity.
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is a delicate, if sometimes disturbing, portrait of the enduring relationships that can bond women together over time and experience. Though filled with exotic Eastern traditions and locales, the tale of female friendship is something everyone can appreciate in this introspective and perhaps overly somber drama. Hitting theaters in a limited release on July 15th by 20th Century Fox, Snow Flower and the Fan is a beautiful film in the fashion of The Joy Luck Club and Memoirs of a Geisha.
Ryan isn’t getting any respect from anyone in this episode of the quirky dark comedy Wilfred, including himself. Wilfred, the obnoxious Australian man-dog, thinks he’s not getting any respect either, and takes a walk on the dark side of geriatric care.
An atmospheric and intelligent sci-fi/drama, Another Earth is an exquisite example of film at its finest. Not only does it successfully meld sci-fi themes with a naturalistic filming style, but it uses sci-fi elements as a vehicle for deep metaphors of self-reflection, loneliness, and redemption. After debuting at Sundance earlier this year, Another Earth was picked up by Fox Searchlight and is now out in theaters.

Drive made waves at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, with director Nicolas Winding Refn nabbing Best Director for the raw crime thriller. Now we get a look at Refn's signature unflinching violence and steely poetry in the just-released, high-octane Drive red band trailer.

EW released this somewhat stylized photo of Collins wearing a gown worthy of a classic fairytale. It also gives us an idea of the mood of the film, and some hint as to what to expect regarding visuals.
No doubt Hugh Jackman's surprise appearance at the Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego had some fanboys peeing in their pants. If it didn't, then the juicy Wolverine 2 news he spilled surely did. Though Jackman (aka Wolverine) was there this morning promoting his robot boxing movie Real Steel, he did mention who the new villain in Wolverine 2 would be, as well as dropping filming start date.
Kevin Munroe (TMNT), director of the stylized horror/comedy Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, took some time to sit down and answer some questions about the film in anticipation of its DVD/Blu-Ray release on July 26.
What would the Evil Dead remake be without Bruce Campbell involved? As the star of the original trilogy, Campbell made the campy horror/comedy work as well as is it did. Luckily for fans of the series, lesser-known director of the remake Federico Alvarez has promised that Campbell will make a cameo appearance, and that no recognizable celebrities will be cast (much like the original film).
