With the original Child’s Play franchise continuing on the small screen in the shape of TV series Chucky, fans are eager to learn what they can expect from their favorite killer doll, and series creator Don Mancini has been on hand to provide us with some vague details.
Godzilla Vs. Kong will see two of the world’s most famous monsters clash in a battle for the ages, but they won’t be the only ones to make an appearance. A new creation named Camazotz will also feature (alongside, possibly, Mechagodzilla), and will debut in a prequel comic.
With film production currently being on hold, most project updates amount to creatives declaring what they’re planning to do once everything returns to some semblance of normality. The Spawn reboot, on the other hand, is apparently moving forward after five years of development hell and months of not much to go on.
Everyone is currently so excited about Justice League’s Snyder Cut being released that the director’s other efforts are being overlooked, but in a recent watch party of the DCEU progenitor Man of Steel, Snyder revealed an Easter Egg that set up the appearance of Doomsday in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Since the surprise news broke that Ruby Rose was prematurely hanging up the cowl of Batwoman, speculation has been rife over who should replace her. Actors such as Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Alaina Huffman (Smallville, Painkiller Jane, Stargate: Universe) have already voiced their interest, and a further name now thrown into the ring is Wallis Day.
With the lucrative and high-profile adaptations of Marvel and DC comics, it’s sometimes easy to forget that comic book movies exist that came from works not published by the Big Two. One of the best of these, V For Vendetta, will be available to stream on Netflix from June 1.
Upon its release in the tail end of 1996, Scream redefined slasher films. Many subsequent flicks were inspired by the metafictional approach of having characters aware of movie tropes, reinvigorating a subgenre that was viewed as tired and repetitive, and sparking interest in further sequels from its tiring franchises. Less commonly known though is that the movie was inspired by the crimes of a real-life serial killer.
Star Wars or Star Trek. Babylon 5 or Deep Space Nine. Farscape or Lexx. People love to compare and contrast their favorites in genre shows and discuss which is better. Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra is a slightly different matter though, being of the same continuity and allowing for more direct comparison.
