This Has To Be A Contender For The Battlefield Play Of The Year
While there is a long history of incredible kills and stunts in the Battlefield series of games, there is nothing I could possibly say about this that would do it justice. Please remove any fragile objects from beneath your jaw before watching for safety concerns, as YouTube user Stun_gravy breaks the laws of physics for your enjoyment. This could easily be the best Battlefield 3 play of the year.

Serious Sam 3 DRM Part Two: Electric Boogaloo
Oh, Croteam, is there anything you won't do for our amusement? I just finished writing about Serious Sam 3: BFE's free Santa DLC for multiplayer, and was still chuckling about the immortal pink scorpions sent out to kill pirates. I knew it would only be a matter of time before that was cracked and the pirates would have their way, but you already had planned on this.

Serious Sam 3: BFE Gets In The Christmas Spirit And This Time It’s Personal
It’s Christmas time in the land of Serious Sam, and oh yes, there will be puns. Croteam seems to be vying for my undying love and affection by staying true to its "wacky" roots and adding a free Santa skin to the online multiplayer. The skin will be appear in the menu immediately following an update, and you’ll be ready to jump into what I can only describe as Christmas by Ted Nugent. The old-school play style matched with all of this Christmas spirit is simply too much for one to explain. You simply have to see it yourself.

GamesAid is taking a page out of the Humble Bundle playbook by finding ways to help charities while fulfilling our gluttonous need for more indie games over the holidays. The LittleBigBunch is opening up the charity to our friends in the UK while offering a pretty enticing lineup. Frozen Synapse, Explodemon, Serious Sam: Double D (sorry no invincible pink scorpion here), Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee and New Star Soccer 5 will all be up for grabs putting this in contention for the highest quality bundle of the year. And of course, you get to decide how your payment is split up. I, for one, am convinced that this is an elaborate scheme to guilt trip me into doubling my original purchase price. Want to donate everything to the developers? By all means, those kids don’t really need the help. Want to donate everything to the charities? Awesome, I’m sure the developers understand why they can’t pay rent.

Serious Sam 3 Has Awesome DRM
We can all admit that DRM is outright horrible and does more to punish legitimate buyers than those who would pirate. It's draconian, outdated and unwelcome. Serious Sam 3: BFE developer Croteam, however, has once again proven that there is a way to meet the demands of players in today's market. As revealed by Dark Side Of Gaming, pirates will find a new enemy waiting for them when they fire up their copies.

Easton-Bell Reveals New Helmets
Easton-Bell unveiled their prototype for pitching helmets Tuesday as part of an effort to cut down on brain injuries, especially to young athletes. Easton-Bell CEO Paul Harrington stood alongside Gunnar Sandberg, a 17 year old who suffered a near fatal accident pitching for Marin Catholic High School last year, during the unveiling. For those of you not familiar with the incident, Sandberg was struck in the head by a line drive resulting in severe brain swelling and had to be placed in a medically induced coma after having a section of his skull removed to reduce pressure. The injury made national headlines sparking the debate “Are our kids safe on the pitcher’s mound?”

MLB 11: The Show Hands-On Preview
MLB 10: The Show was one of my favorite games of last year. For weeks, I would waste away at work thinking about how I would spend the next set of training points, or if I really could have legged out that triple. Now, while this may sound like borderline obsession (it is), MLB 10 became more than just a game to me. It became my chance to play in the big leagues. So when I found out I was going to get a chance to sit down with MLB 11 at GDC 2011, it took a lot of willpower not to squeal like a teenage girl.

Mortal Kombat Hands-On Preview
One of the more interesting exhibits at GDC was a hands on with the upcoming demo for Mortal Kombat. The fighting game has arguably had some growing pains in its last few appearances and Warner Brothers has promised to return the game to its core roots. Regressing to being 12 years old again, I grabbed the controller and snatched Sub Zero before anyone else could leaving Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Mileena for my opponent. Yes, I had become "that guy", but luckily my opponent was more than happy to oblige me since he had his eyes set on Scorpion.
