I'm a writer/editor who's been at the site since 2015. I cover politics, weird history, video games and... well, anything really. Keep it breezy, keep it light, keep it straightforward.
Blumhouse head Jason Blum has watched the first cut of David Gordon Green's Halloween, and he's over the moon at seeing Laurie Strode and Michael Myers properly reunited.
Life in the world of Stan Lee has taken a turn for the dramatic over the last few months. We've seen allegations of elder abuse (including the LAPD being called to Lee's house), reports of hundreds of thousands of dollars of Lee's money being stolen from him, sexual abuse allegations against Lee and his manager and, most bizarrely of all, that someone has been stealing Stan Lee's blood in order to create a special ink to sign comics with.
Fox President Peter Rice has said he expects the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney to be closed by summer 2019. Announced late last year to a blaze of publicity, the deal would cement the Mouse House as the monolithic force in entertainment and grant them control of some of the most famous and popular franchises in cinema and television history. At the time of the announcement, Disney explained that they expected the regulatory approval process to take about 12-18 months, so this update is a good indication that things are progressing smoothly.
This new Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer is pretty much the same as the last one, but with an excited Japanese man yelling over the top. And really, what more could you want?
After directing the hell out of Deadpool, Tim Miller left some pretty big shoes to fill. Said shoes are now occupied by former stuntman and Atomic Blonde helmer David Leitch, who's sitting behind the camera for Deadpool 2 and who's described the project as his "dream job."
IMAX is pretty damn big. If you go to one of their flagship locations you'll learn facts like the screen is the height of five double-decker buses, that the projector weighs "as much as a Fiat 500" and that the bulb gets "as hot as the surface of the sun" (no, I don't believe it does either, but that's what their promotional material says). But there's a certain purple intergalactic titan that's bigger, more dangerous and hotter than IMAX - Avengers: Infinity War's Thanos!
2017's IT broke box office records left, right and centre and underlined the financial viability of the recent horror resurgence. With that film's unbelievable success under its belt, New Line looks as if they're having no trouble attracting an impressive cast for IT: Chapter Two.
Brian Michael Bendis' Alias was one of my favorite comics of the 2000s, presenting an exciting new perspective on the Marvel Universe. So, I was over the moon when Netflix announced that they were adapting the comic as Jessica Jones in 2015. I was even happier when I watched the first episode and realized that they'd absolutely nailed the tone of the source material and that Krysten Ritter was outstanding in the lead role.
There are just six weeks left until fans can ease their butts into multiplex seats and check out what Disney, Lucasfilm and Ron Howard have served up in Solo: A Star Wars Story. And now, thanks to the website for the Cannes Film Festival, we've got an idea of the pic's runtime. Spoilers: it comes in at a tidy 2 hours and 15 minutes.
