Check Out This Disappointing Monster-Free Clip From Colossal
Nacho Vigalondo's much hyped Colossal is soon to hit theatres after a rapturously received run at film festivals (check out our TIFF review here). It sounds worth watching if only for its absolutely bonkers premise: a heartbroken woman (Anne Hathaway) returns to her hometown after being dumped, only to discover that when she walks on a playground at a certain time of the day a giant monster appears in Seoul that matches her movements, smashes up the city and kills hundreds.

Another New Spider-Man: Homecoming Poster Features A Familiar Tower
The Spider-Man: Homecoming poster released earlier today is a work of genius, firmly establishing Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with humor, poise and subtly. Simply showing a superhero chilling out and enjoying himself feels vaguely subversive, especially in the face of the ongoing procession of DC's Justice League scowling at the camera in been-there/done-that superhero stock poses.

Edward James Olmos Cast In Shane Black’s The Predator
While the Alien is currently undergoing a mini-renaissance with Alien: Covenant, its sometime nemesis the Predator isn't resting on his insectoid laurels, either. Writer extraordinaire Shane Black (who was disembowelled in the original) is looking to bring the iconic alien hunter back to his prime in The Predator, which has already been filming for a couple of weeks. The production has been notorious for constantly announcing new cast members, recently revealing that everyone from Jake Busey to Alfie Allen to Thomas Jane is set to appear.

Colin Farrell Might Be Joining Tim Burton’s Live Action Dumbo
Ugh. Tim Burton is making a live action remake of Dumbo, and reports are saying that Colin Farrell might be starring in it. Sadly, it's looking unlikely that we'd get to see him in the title role - that's going to be some dead-eyed CGI monstrosity. Instead, he's down to star as Holt, widowed father to two children who get mixed up in the adventures of the eponymous sad elephant.

Somewhere right now, Adam Sandler is very happy. His films have made a combined total of $3 billion, with his last, the execrable Pixels pulling in $230m on a scanty $70m budget. Adding to his bulging pile of happiness is the news that Netflix, obviously over the moon with the success of future classics The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over and the upcoming Sandy Wexler are going to pay him to make a further four films for them.

Power Rangers Rakes In $3.6M On Thursday Night – Expect Sequels
Power Rangers exceeded box office expectations on Thursday night, pulling in $3.6 million. This puts the franchise reboot on route towards a total domestic box office debut of somewhere between $30m and $40m, an estimate that should go some way to relieving worries at Lionsgate that they had a major flop on their hands. It also means the film is likely to surpass its release date competitors Life and CHiPS, which are expected to gross $15m and $10m this weekend, respectively.
