Ever since the news dropped back in August that Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth have pulled out of Star Trek 4 due to salary disputes, the S.J. Clarkson-helmed flick has been in a state of uncertainty, with neither Paramount Pictures nor the franchise’s regular cast having much to report in recent months.
Several months ago, it was reported that Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Entertainment was moving forward with a fifth instalment in the Toxic Avenger series, with James Gunn of Guardians of the Galaxy fame said to be working on the script. And while it’s been mostly radio silence on the project since then, Bloody Disgusting is now reporting that Legendary Entertainment has acquired the rights to the horror-comedy property with plans for a remake of the 1984 original.
The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy is known to include a few celebrity cameos in each installment, from Daniel Craig’s brief appearance as a Stormtrooper in The Force Awakens, to Prince William and Harry’s similar roles in The Last Jedi. It’s therefore not all that absurd to think that singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran might be showing up in next year’s Star Wars: Episode IX.
After the death of Snoke and Phasma in Star Wars: The Last Jedi – not to mention those persistent rumors that General Hux will betray Kylo Ren – there are likely one or two new villain slots open for next year’s Star Wars: Episode IX. And while Richard E. Grant could well live up to his reputation as a screen baddie, a recent report from Making Star Wars alleges that the First Order will be drawing on the services of a special kind of trooper.
As much as the stars of Avengers: Endgame love to tease and troll their fans with hints of what’s to come, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the cast is often pretty in the dark themselves about the content of the Avengers: Infinity War sequel.
Though it’s been more or less confirmed by now that Pepper Potts will be suiting up as Rescue in next year’s Avengers: Endgame, many fans were suspecting this development long before that revelatory photo of Gwyneth Paltrow in an Iron Man-style outfit first made its way online. But while the prediction turned out to be correct, that doesn’t necessarily mean that fans were forecasting Rescue’s arrival for the right reasons, and one piece of evidence in particular has been debunked once and for all in the new Avengers: Endgame Prelude comic.
With next year’s Star Wars: Episode IX set to bring the Skywalker Saga to a close while offering the late Carrie Fisher’s character a fitting finale, J.J. Abrams’ upcoming sequel could well be the last we see of any of the Original Trilogy’s main players on the big screen, but for actor Billy Dee Williams, the film will also serve as his long-awaited return to the series.
For much of this year, we’ve been hearing rumors of various new villains entering the fray in next year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and in light Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal’s recent claims that Peter Parker and Quentin Beck will be teaming up to fight Elementals across Europe, there may even be something to these reports.
Sorry, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. You may have your fans, but according to Spider-Man: Far From Home star Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Parker’s latest incarnation has you both beat.
Until Marvel Studios gives us more Avengers: Endgame material to chew over, the fans will be analyzing the film’s first trailer for all it's worth, and as the literal frame-by-frame scrutiny of the teaser continues, the internet has offered some pretty imaginative theories.
