With only one week separating us from the season premiere of Arrow, you could say that anticipation levels have been kicked up a notch. Perhaps realizing this, The CW have opted to release yet another trailer for the DC TV cornerstone series, and it can be viewed at the top of this article.
When Supernatural was still in its earliest of seasons, a neighbor of mine said his general disinterest in the series came because "there are only so many ways you can say 'boo.'" Of course, we've come a long way from the monster of the week formula inspired by various urban legends and such, with the horror series relying more so on the rich mythology it's created in the time since.
Now that we know Gotham‘s fifth season will be its last, it sounds like the producers are going with the “kitchen sink” mentality as they continue crossing villains off their bucket list. Already, we’re aware that the likes of Scarface and Mother will pop up, but we’ve also been told to stay attentive if indeed the true Harley Quinn is to make an appearance.
If you’re current on Gotham happenings, then you’re well aware of how the city was ravaged by bombs Jeremiah Valeska and Ra’s al Ghul planted around town. And in the wake of that destruction, numerous gangs will begin carving out their territory, with the likes of Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Firefly and others setting up shop throughout various neighborhoods.
Odd as it may sound, The Flash may very well now be the flagship show in the Arrowverse. When you think about it, the series' ascension to that spot makes sense, especially when you factor in how it's consistently The CW's top rated show. Plus, it often charts new course for the DC TV landscape as a whole, which I'll discuss in just a bit.
To date, The CW have done a stellar job when it comes to assembling great ensemble casts. And if you require a fine example of this, one need not look any further than The Flash. Really, after excelling at its game for four seasons, it's probably safe to say that it's hard to imagine the show without core actors Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh and Jesse L. Martin.
Barring the previous year, I can't remember The CW holding its cards so close to the vest heading into a new season of Arrow. I mean, we do know some stuff about what'll soon go down such as Oliver being in prison, but the status quo for the foreseeable future remains shrouded in mystery.
When it comes to the Titans, there exist several villains whom we normally think of as being their chief nemeses. To me, at least, the likes of Trigon and Deathstroke immediately come to mind, the former of which may very well show up before season 1 concludes.
Admittedly, I’ve never seen reason to subscribe to any sort of streaming service, but the upcoming DC Universe initiative may change that. Boasting animated series such as Young Justice: Outsiders and Harley Quinn, the live action side of things won’t be ignored either, for Titans, Doom Patrol and Swamp Thing are also along for the ride. Needless to say, that’s a whole lot of incentive to sign up.
Having been a fan of Aquaman for some time and knowing he’s not the wimp that the mainstream perceives him to be, you could say that I’ve been waiting for what seems like an eternity for a movie featuring him to materialize. Fortunately, Zack Snyder cast the perfect badass for the role in Jason Momoa while assembling Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and now James Wan’s effort looks like everything I could’ve hoped for and more.
