As much as I love the Man of Steel, I wasn't quite prepared for the collective hype put forth by the fanbase when it came to recent news pertaining to Superman: The Movie. After all, I imagine you and I have each seen the flick on numerous occasions, but there's admittedly something quite special about whenever it makes the leap to the latest home theater technology.
One thing I've enjoyed about the Spider-Man movies produced in this decade is that they've offered varied types of costumes to be worn by the titular hero. I mean, aside from the black suit in 2007's Spider-Man 3, Toby Maguire donned the same threads for three consecutive flicks. And to my delight, both Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland's iterations changed it up in a visual sense.
If I didn't know better, I'd say the cast and crew of Arrow were engaging in a pornographic game of Mad Libs over the summer, because some of the latest teasers for season 7 have had to do with a nude prison shower brawl and an all-male pillow fight. Seriously, I'm not making any of this up.
As both a fan and a writer, I've certainly come to notice how people perk up whenever John Constantine is mentioned these days. In the past, I'd stated how the cancellation of his eponymous NBC series came with the most silver of linings, as the exorcist has enjoyed various appearances on TV and in animation in the time since the Peacock brought down the ax.
Needless to say, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has come a long way since 2008's Iron Man. In that time, we've seen it grow from a movie centered on a man with a remarkable suit to something reaching the far cosmos. And along the way, a few instances of recasting have naturally been witnessed.
Though it may seem silly to some, fans have been clamoring to see the Emerald Archer sporting the goatee comic book readers have known for decades. And after seeing a clean-shaven Justin Hartley appearing on the latter seasons of Smallville and Stephen Amell keeping his facial hair pretty close for the first six years of Arrow, the diehards will finally get their wish granted this fall.
Late last week, we were finally gifted with a synopsis hyping the fifth season premiere of The Flash and, as was to be expected, a description for the episode to follow has now hit the web. Given that its respective air date is just under three weeks away, we anticipate that something regarding the third installment will arrive before the premiere itself, so stay tuned.
If assuring that viewers will accept another night of The CW's primetime lineup into their lives by moving Supergirl to Sundays was the network's intention, then I'm guessing they'll succeed in that regard. After already captivating audiences for its three previous seasons, the series showcasing the adventures of Kara Zor-El should help launch this new initiative - and give the upcoming Charmed reboot, which'll follow in the 9 pm slot, a boost in the process.
Now that the season premiere of Arrow is a little over two weeks away, the network is finally willing to cough up a synopsis. I mean, we have been spoiled in recent memory by a new trailer and more information regarding December's "Elseworlds" crossover, but it's nice to have a description to go along with all that.
For several years now, the Arrowverse certainly hasn't been shy when it comes to fleshing out the Multiverse. In fact, last year's crossover event, "Crisis on Earth-X," really took that concept to new heights. But now that we know of how this fall's offering has been dubbed "Elseworlds," it's expected that a wealth of new storytelling possibilities will open up.
