In case you hadn’t heard, Marvel kicked off their latest initiative last month, thereby relaunching many of their marquee titles under the “Fresh Start” banner. No doubt capitalizing on some of this year’s biggest blockbuster films, books such as Avengers, Venom, Thor and Black Panther are rolling back to #1 in order to provide accessible jumping on points, to name but a few.
Though nobody can ever truly stop you from dusting off the already released Friday the 13th movies and popping them into your media player of choice (I'm sure a few of you still have your VHS copies), it's quite disheartening to think that another entry into the franchise is likely many years off - if it ever arrives at all.
Though The CW has some good content to take in over the summer, we're not going to lie when it comes to saying that fall can't get here soon enough. And if you're also a fan of the Arrowverse or an unrelated show such as Supernatural, then you may very well agree with that statement.
When we think of various superhero teams, there are naturally a few quintessential members who immediately spring to mind. But sometimes it can be fun to really mix up things, such as having Darkseid join the Justice League, or seeing Domino possibly being added to the Avengers.
With superhero movies dominating the box office these days, other genres have had to go the extra mile to turn heads as of late. When it comes to that of action, simply having cops and robbers shooting it out in scenes that are barely choreographed tends to not sell as many tickets as it could’ve in years prior, especially now that you have guys like Iron Man and Black Panther dialing it up to 11.
As a lifelong lover of Batman and his supporting characters, you'd better believe that a movie headlined by Nightwing ranks high among those I most want to see within my lifetime. But considering how director Chris McKay has taken on Dungeons & Dragons as his next project, the realist in me is thinking Dick Grayson won't fly solo until a much, much later date - if at all.
Though Chloe Grace Moretz has established herself as quite the respectable actress through various movies in recent years, it stands to reason that many of us were first introduced to her via Kick-Ass. In that picture adapted from Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s acclaimed comic book, she played Hit-Girl, a scene-stealing pre-teen with a knack for handling deadly weapons and possessing a mastery of martial arts. Needless to say, she was fun to watch whenever appearing on screen.
With shooting on various series making up the Arrowverse set to commence next month, it's only natural that casting for the next additions to the pantheon get underway. In the case of Legends of Tomorrow, the producers are seemingly wasting no time filling some vacated bunks aboard the Waverider.
When Quentin Lance breathed his last during May's season finale of Arrow, I must confess that it didn't come as much of a shocker. It would have, though, if we weren't given advance notice that stalwart actor Paul Blackthorne would be leaving the series. After all, killing off a character that'd been around since the pilot episode aired would've blindsided us all.
For the past two springs, we as Gotham fans were left on the edges of our seats for all the wrong reasons. While the show itself kept us glued to our sets, we were forced to await word regarding whether or not the Batman prequel series would be cancelled. Fortunately, it was renewed both times, though the latest confirmation came with a condition: that season 5 will be the last.
