When it comes to discussing Ant-Man and the Wasp, I think it's very hard to get around the elephant in the room that is Avengers: Infinity War's ending. Sure, neither of the heroes co-headlining Marvel Studios' next release took part in the latest team-up, but when Thanos snuffs out half of all living beings populating the universe with a mere snap of his fingers, questions are bound to be raised.
In recent years, the House of Ideas has had a lot of fun with Deadpool by placing the character in a variety of outlandish situations. Granted, the unexpected has long been within Wade Wilson's wheelhouse, but when we're treated to out of continuity stories that see him killing the rest of the Marvel Universe - or those in continuity showing him murdering analogs for Batman's parents - odds are those are what we'll remember for years to come.
To say that last night's Supergirl finale marked a time for change is an understatement. I mean, not only did James Olsen reveal to the public that he's the hero known as Guardian, but we also learned why Jesse Rath will be a series regular next season and Jeremy Jordan will be on in a more limited capacity. Basically, they swapped places, with Brainiac 5 remaining in the present and Winn taking his spot within the Legion of Super-Heroes in the future.
A common criticism lobbed at Supergirl is that it borrows too much from stories pertaining to Superman, a point that I wont' argue. Despite that, I've been quite happy to see villains such as Livewire and Parasite brought to life in ways that shows such as Superboy, Lois & Clark and even Smallville simply didn't have the budget to achieve, or in a film franchise that just can't seem to get past Lex Luthor and Zod. It's because of this that I've said Supergirl has often felt like a live action answer to Superman: The Animated Series.
Though Zack Snyder has gotten back into the filmmaking game, the guy sure has been enjoying sharing all kinds of interesting trivia pertaining to Justice League in recent memory. Sometimes, he may provide answers regarding things from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice that have puzzled moviegoers for the past couple years, or he may declassify some cool pictures. Either way, he’s doing a fine job of keeping DC fans engaged.
In the eight years separating Batman & Robin from Batman Begins, there were several possible movies featuring the Caped Crusader that came incredibly close to seeing the light of day following the studio cancelling Joel Schumacher's Batman Unchained. Among them were the likes of Batman: DarKnight, Batman Beyond and even Batman vs. Superman (yes, Warner Bros. had attempted to make it a reality long before 2016), each of which I could discuss factoids pertaining to for hours.
While his solo series may have been unfortunately cancelled by NBC a few years back, it’s been exciting to see Matt Ryan reprise his role of John Constantine, be it on various other TV shows or in animated movies. Actually, we’ve been quite spoiled in recent memory, as he’s appeared several times on Legends of Tomorrow, and is slated to become a series regular as of season 4.
Just as The Flash has introduced us to no shortage of speedsters throughout the years, Arrow has seen its share of archers come through the door. In addition to Oliver Queen AKA the Green Arrow himself, we've met the likes of Roy Harper/Arsenal, Thea Queen/Speedy, Malcolm Merlyn/the Dark Archer and Carrie Cutter/Cupid over the course of six seasons.
As is the case with any TV show, various in-jokes and seemingly innocuous additions to the mythology can be made throughout the years, thus making us wonder if and when they'll be paid off. When it comes to Arrow, viewers have been asking about the dangling thread that is Smoak Technologies for some time now.
In the past week or so, those working behind the camera on The Flash have done one heck of a job when it comes to locking down talent for season 5. Already, we've received confirmation on Danielle Nicolet sticking around to play Cecile Horton on a more permanent basis, just as we did for Hartley Sawyer and his character of Ralph Dibny AKA the Elongated Man.
