If I didn't already need more incentive for seeing Gotham season 4 through to the end, the network most assuredly provided it with this awesome new extended trailer. And to the surprise of no one, they've centered it on Jerome Valeska, whom we know to play a huge part in what's to come this spring.
Say what you want about the idea of Iris West temporarily becoming a speedster, but I personally felt that the most recent episode to have aired ended up being one of season 4’s better outings. Not only that, but Harry Wells seemingly turned the tide in the war against the Thinker by crafting a “thinking cap” of his own.
If any character is proof positive of viewers' abilities to affect the course of a TV show, it's most certainly Jerome Valeksa. Played by Cameron Monaghan, this young man first appeared back in Gotham's first season as a nod to the Joker. Then, no doubt due to the actor's chilling performance, he was brought back for a brief stretch at the start of season 2 before unfortunately being killed off.
When any TV series lasts as long as Arrow has, it's only expected that it not hold onto every original cast member. Amazingly enough, we've had stalwarts such as David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Katie Cassidy and Paul Blackthorne all stand by lead actor Stephen Amell from the very beginning, but we have lost a few along the way like Colton Haynes, John Barrowman and, most recently, Willa Holland.
Although it could be argued that the Predator franchise is rather hit or miss, there's no denying that the creature itself remains among the most iconic in science fiction/horror history. Having always been a marvel when it comes to prosthetic-based costume design, it likely gives moviegoers nightmares to this day - regardless of whether they're able to get to the choppa before waking.
If anything, last night's episode of Gotham really set the stage for what the remainder of season 4 shall bring. Now that Sofia Falcone is seemingly out of the way, we're free to focus on Jerome Valeksa and his band of freaks making the city their playground, as well as whatever else is on the horizon for the League of Shadows. To be honest, we can't rule out those paths converging, but we'll get back to that idea a bit later.
To say that the current season of Arrow has yielded a rough year for Oliver Queen is putting it mildly. Sure, he may have married Felicity Smoak and built a relationship with his son, William, but that doesn't change the fact that his team fractured down the center, his sister, Thea, split town for good, or that he'll come to blows with John Diggle in next week's episode, as evidenced by the trailer above.
Whenever the subject of Harley Quinn has come up, I've never been ashamed to admit that I didn't become a fan of the character until Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner took the reins back in 2013. Before then, I more so saw her as Joker's henchgirl. But now, she's her own woman with a rich supporting cast.
Even though I've never missed an episode of Gotham, I've been finding Jerome Valeska to be my biggest motivator for tuning in as we embark on the final stretch of season 4. In the previous seasons, Cameron Monaghan's take on the proto-Joker had been limited to merely a few episodes, but now, he's playing a bigger role than ever.
Even with many comic book movies having followed The Dark Knight since it arrived in cinemas nearly a decade ago, it could be argued that very few villains - if any - have reached the bar set by Heath Ledger's Joker. To his credit, the late actor lost himself in the role, as I never once saw Ledger when I looked at the screen - I saw only the Clown Prince of Crime. Really, one need not strain themselves wondering why he was awarded a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
