Well, the highly anticipated Batman and Harley Quinn animated film has finally arrived and, while I shouldn't be surprised that it's already stirring up controversy, I am. It seems like nobody can create any sort of art these days without enduring some sort of backlash, but that's just the world we live in. Before diving into my review, I'll preface by saying this movie is in no way for kids, but if you're a prude, you may also want to sit this one out.
Despite blowing us away with one event that's already kicked off in the form of Dark Nights: Metal (you can check out our five-star review for the first issue here), DC is more than ready to knock our socks off with yet another limited series, the ominously titled Doomsday Clock. Set to put characters from the DC Universe proper on a collision course with those from Watchmen, it'll no doubt finally pay off the greater mysteries of the Rebirth era that have been tugging at our minds.
Thanks to the first trailer for Arrow season 6 that dropped last month at San Diego Comic-Con, we’ve been given a lot to look forward to when we rejoin the series this fall. One thing in particular that you may agree with me in saying is among the greatest selling points is that of seeing Manu Bennett returning as Deathstroke for a number of episodes.
Although some of you may argue with me for saying so, I've personally enjoyed every live action version of The Punisher to date. Even though each of the three movies were of varying quality, I felt that each flick - and actor - brought something unique to the table. After all, Frank Castle is most certainly a complicated guy and there's not enough that could be said about what makes him tick.
Regardless of whether you want to believe it or not, the reality of the situation is that Justice League has been undergoing extensive reshoots throughout this summer. Coming courtesy of Joss Whedon, who has been brought on to finish the job that original director Zack Snyder started, the additional filming has reportedly lightened the tone a bit and made for a more coherent narrative.
Having already generously broadened the series' scope by adding characters such as the Thinker, Elongated Man and Hazard to the highly anticipated fourth season, the producers of The Flash aren't wasting any time when it comes to further mining the DC pantheon. What makes their latest addition to the cast especially exciting is that the actress they've managed to secure is somebody already well known to the geek community.
Even though the first footage to be culled from Aquaman was shown at San Diego Comic-Con, the folks over at Warner Bros. have elected to withhold it from the public at large for the time being. So, until a full-blown trailer for the blockbuster starring Jason Momoa actually finds its way online, we'll have to rely on set photos and the like in order to help tide us over.
Although it may feel a bit far removed from its source material at times, Riverdale consistently made for some truly compelling television throughout its inaugural season by not only delivering much in the way of drama, but also by having a riveting murder mystery serving as its backbone.
After taking a lengthy - and much needed - hiatus from cinemas, the Saw franchise is finally ready to once again shed gallons of blood with its latest installment, Jigsaw. But despite featuring a returning Tobin Bell who is set to reprise the role of John Kramer in some capacity, all signs point toward a copycat at play, but more on that later.
While we can say for certain that Steppenwolf will serve as the main antagonist when the Justice League come together for the first time on the silver screen, none of us outside the film's production know the entirety of what the rest of its content will consist of.
