Despite being glued to our sets by some riveting storylines involving the likes of the Reverse Flash, Zoom and Savitar throughout the first three seasons of The Flash, it's probably safe to assume that I'm speaking for us all when saying that it's time to have somebody other than an evil speedster serve as the big bad in the future.
Last week, we brought word that it appeared as though Joker and Riddler would be going head to head in the pages of Batman this June and, thanks to a freshly released batch of solicits, we now know that it's an absolute certainty. Not only that, but we've also learned what's on the horizon for related books such as All-Star Batman, Batgirl and Super Sons.
Now that Justice League vs. Suicide Squad is well behind us, speculation regarding DC’s next major crossover event runs rampant. As of today, it appears we’ve been given our first real hints as to what it might be with the announcement of two one-shots set to be published under the title of Dark Days.
When any major crossover event published by the Big Two launches, tie-in books inevitably follow. With Secret Empire being no exception, three one-shots are set to drop this spring/summer – Uprising, United and Underground – each of which will explore how different corners of the Marvel Universe stand up to the forces of Hydra. And while those will no doubt make for intriguing reads, I couldn’t help but notice the absence of a complementary miniseries.
One thing that we all have to grow accustomed to in any rebooted superhero film franchise is the recasting of not only the title character, but the supporting ones as well. After having gotten used to Michael Caine and Gary Oldman as Alfred Pennyworth and Jim Gordon, respectively, in The Dark Knight Trilogy, moviegoers must now acclimate themselves to seeing Jeremy Irons as Bruce Wayne's trusted butler and J.K. Simmons as Gotham City's top cop, the latter of whom makes his DC Extended Universe debut in Justice League.
It really does feel like we're at the dawn of a mutant renaissance, doesn't it? Now that Inhumans vs. X-Men is behind us, Marvel is ready to take the world by storm with a veritable arsenal of ambitious X-Men titles, and has dropped a new trailer in celebration of ResurrXion.
It’s getting to be that time of the month when DC starts rolling out solicits for comic books due to ship three months from now. As such, we’ve been given insight into upcoming issues of Trinity, Hal Joran and the Green Lantern Corps and Aquaman, two of which will begin new story arcs.
By now, many of you know that recording artist will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas fame is no stranger to Marvel, having already played John Wraith in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But now, he’s doing what few others are given the privilege of, and that’s making the leap from screen to page with the freshly announced original graphic novel, Masters of the Sun – The Zombie Chronicles.
If anything, the past week or so has brought us no shortage of news when it comes to the many upcoming titles spotlighting our favorite mutants. Not only did we recently get our first looks inside X-Men Gold and Weapon X, but some remastered variant covers by way of Jim Lee were unveiled as well. Well, that trend continues today as the curtain is pulled back even further when it comes to X-Men Blue.
Despite having taken three shoulder separating swings that each amounted to misses with the Fantastic Four film franchise, Fox still remains dedicated to the property and even hopes for a fourth go around. For some reason, they just haven't had luck printing money with Marvel's First Family in the same way they have with the X-Men. Go figure.
