While Marvel and DC battle to see who wins at the box office, it’s virtually inarguable that it's the latter who dominates the small screen. Now having taken over four nights of the week when it comes to prime time programming, serialized superhero storytelling has swiftly become a cornerstone in the lives of many a geek these days.
Over the past few weeks, discussion surrounding the next mainline X-Men movie has begun reaching critical mass. Granted, the release of Logan probably has a lot to do with that, but it stands to reason that moviegoers will always want to know what lies ahead for one of the most popular superhero franchises to grace the silver screen in recent decades.
I'm pretty sure that not many would argue when I say that The Flash is currently on a hot streak, both as a television show and as a comic book. And while they're equally as intriguing and feature some of the same characters, they are different beasts entirely.
Over the next few weeks, things are sure to heat up for Marvel. Not only does April 5 mark the release of X-Men Gold #1, but also that of Royals #1, a title that is set to begin a bold new era for the top tier Inhumans characters.
Whether you loved, hated or thought the Suicide Squad movie was just okay, you have to admit its mainstream prominence did wonders for the comics. In the past – and even during the days of the New 52 – some great names had worked on the books, but until Rebirth came along, never before had DC made a deliberate effort to assign such A-list creators to the title. I mean, seriously, this isn’t normally a book you’d expect to see Jim Lee’s name on.
If there were ever such a thing as a "must read," I'd have to say that Action Comics #975 would certainly be it. Not only is it a great comic book to begin with, but it also pulls back the curtain on one of the most intriguing mysteries DC has been gestating since last summer - and not just those contained to the Superman line of books.
Now that the Inhumans vs. X-Men crossover event is officially behind us (check out our review of the finale here), our attention swiftly turns to ResurrXion and all the new titles that come with. Suffice it to say, it's a pretty exciting time to be an X-Men fan.
Before The Flash teaches us all how to sing and dance in the upcoming musical crossover with Supergirl, things will seemingly get worse for the Scarlet Speedster and his pals before they get better.
Now that a brief promo has been released hyping the upcoming musical crossover involving Supergirl and The Flash, I guess that means the countdown can officially begin. What's actually quite surprising is that the network managed to keep major plot points under wraps up until recently.
Knowing that the crossover event Inhumans vs. X-Men will finally come to a close this week, the time has come to begin looking forward. As is par for the course when such a miniseries wraps, a bold new status quo is set to begin, with reverberations being felt in several books featuring your favorite mutants. A prime example of this is the highly anticipated X-Men Gold.
