Now that Cisco has pretty much gone full Vibe, the spotlight shifts back to Barry Allen in next week’s episode of The Flash. Titled “Untouchable,” which we swear isn’t the name of an upcoming hip hop album recorded by the Scarlet Speedster, this chapter will see the S.T.A.R. Labs crew being forced to deal with a man capable of rapidly decomposing people with but a simple touch. Needless to say, this has to be one of their most nightmarish nemeses yet.
As of late, there’s been much talk surrounding the current Thunderbolts series for a variety of reasons. One is the possible return of the Masters of Evil, the other being that this iteration of the team is led by none other than Bucky Barnes, whom many of you know as the Winter Soldier.
Now that we’ve had time to adjust to the unfortunate news that Ben Affleck has stepped down as director of The Batman to supposedly place more focus on co-writing, producing and starring in the film, we turn our attention to other details surrounding the project’s production.
You know, for a three-issue story arc, "Joker Loves Harley" not only showed what this series is capable of, but also was a lesson in examining every detail put forth. I realize that may be a bit hard to do when you consider all the wackiness that has ensued since Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti took the creative reins back in 2013, but do know there is always an intricate plan when it comes to Harley Quinn, something I will touch on later.
Now that season 3B of The Flash is in full swing, it's time to look forward to seeing which heroes and villains from around the DC Universe will appear next. As we recently learned, it's none other than Gypsy who will be showing up to give the S.T.A.R. Labs crew headaches.
One thing I've noticed being a lifelong Superman fan is that those who have previously appeared in movies or TV series featuring the Man of Steel tend to come back in some fashion in whatever the current iteration may be, generally inhabiting another role. In keeping with tradition, Supergirl has added Teri Hatcher, whom many of you will no doubt remember as having played Lois Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, which ran for four seasons during the 1990's.
Aside from Jerome thankfully having survived the winter finale of Gotham, last night's episode was undeniably a pivotal point for Edward Nygma, who took another bloody giant step toward his destiny when we brutally shot Penguin and left him to drown.
As we continue to enjoy living in this golden age of superheroes, science fiction and awesome pop culture in general, it's important that we don't forget about the genius minds who got us to this point. And, thankfully, neither have the folks behind the new Machinima series, Greater Creators.
Although the Justice League attract tons of readers whenever a new issue detailing their latest exploits hits stands, it’s probably safe to say that older readers are the target audience. As it turns out, the younger crowd (and the young at heart) have an alternative in the form of Super Powers.
Although we must endure a three-month hiatus before Gotham makes its return, I can’t help but applaud the incredible winter finale that it delivered last night. Aside from the Penguin-Edward Nygma situation coming to a head, there was much else to discuss, namely the conclusion to the latest arc centered on Jerome Valeska.
