When it comes to those who've made the greatest contributions to the comic book medium, the late Stan Lee's reputation preceded him. Having created the likes of Spider-Man, Daredevil, Iron Man, Hulk, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, "The Man" helped assure that generations of readers and moviegoers be both inspired and captivated.
When it comes to major costume alterations found in the Arrowverse, I think we as the viewers tend to focus more on the headliners than the supporting characters. Really, whenever Green Arrow or the Flash don a new suit, it's the talk of the town. I'd like to say the same about Supergirl, but she's been wearing the same threads since she's arrived on the scene - barring doppelgangers like Overgirl and Red Daughter, of course.
Throughout the history of comics, there have been some rather interesting crossovers. Funny enough, the characters I most associate with this practice are Batman and Archie. Whereas the Dark Knight has met the likes of Spawn, Judge Dredd, Alien and Predator, Archie Andrews has crossed paths with the Punisher and KISS, and has even had to deal with a Sharknado. Oh yeah, he, too, has also had a run-in with the Predator.
Despite Arrow soon ending its impressive run and the various series orbiting it not getting any younger, the future of DC on The CW still looks incredibly bright. The reason I say that is because we have Batwoman waiting in the wings, a show set to be headlined by Ruby Rose as she plays the titular character tasked with protecting Gotham City following the disappearance of Batman.
After amazing gamers the world over with their Batman: Arkham trilogy, Rocksteady has remained the top choice for many when it comes to developing the next major video game to be based on a DC Comics property. In recent memory, there'd been chatter saying that their next project will focus on the Dark Knight yet again after those Superman rumors had been shot down.
If any DC-themed animated movie to drop in 2019 offers the best of both worlds, it has to be Justice League vs. The Fatal Five. The reason I say that is because while it does chart new territory that I'll detail momentarily, it's a love letter to those of us who adored the sheer perfection that was Justice League Unlimited. Believe it or not, even the film's score mirrors what we once heard from the beloved animated series. Rest assured that you'll feel right at home as soon as you hear a well-placed electric guitar accompany Superman's first display of heroics.
Proving that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Dave Bautista aren't the only professional wrestlers from his generation with potential to have successful film careers, John Cena now looks to add something rather impressive to his resume. To be more specific, Variety reports that he's currently in talks to star in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad.
Love them or hate them, Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil movies exist. Though I admittedly dug the first and fourth installments, as a fan of the games, I didn’t care for the live action film franchise by and large. The CGI flicks produced by Capcom, however, are the cat’s pajamas in my book.
Even though this past Monday's episode of Arrow, "Lost Canary," didn't resurrect Earth-1's Laurel Lance, it did the next best thing. By that, I'm referring to how Felicity Smoak, Dinah Drake and Sara Lance were able to pull Earth-2's Laurel back from the abyss, as the Birds of Prey-inspired adventure ultimately culminated with the doppelganger accepting her predecessor's Black Canary costume. That's a big development, make no mistake about it.
When it was announced last spring that Colton Haynes would be returning to Arrow as a series regular, it’s fair to assume that fans around the globe let out a small cheer upon reading the news. After all, not only is Roy Harper a beloved comic book character, but viewers really took to Haynes’ rendition of him.
