With the highly publicized fiasco that was Justice League's production well behind us, I think it's safe to say we've all been waiting to hear exactly what Zack Snyder's next movie will be. Well, this may come as a shock to some, but it's not something to be released under the umbrella of Warner Bros. Rather, Army of the Dead will debut on the Netflix streaming service once it's ready.
Though Batman: The Animated Series is often cited as being the definitive portrayal of the Dark Knight, I think my favorite products to feature the character have to be that of the Batman: Arkham line of video games. Aside from nailing the characters, I just loved how those interactive experiences immersed you in the world that is Gotham City. And in a way, it was almost like a more mature continuation of Bruce Timm's masterwork.
In just a little over one week, the moment that fans of Supernatural have seemingly waited an eternity for will arrive. We are, of course, talking about Jeffrey Dean Morgan returning as John Winchester, something that's been itching to be crossed off many wishlists since the conclusion to season 2.
It wasn't that long ago when speculation of a Green Lantern villain appearing in the thirteenth episode of The Flash's current season began swirling. Once it was announced that said adventure would be titled "Goldfaced," it forced those familiar with more obscure DC villains to think we'd soon be introduced to a live action version of, well, Goldface.
When it was originally announced that Arrow's 150th episode was titled "Emerald Archer," I'd assumed that it would shed more light on Oliver's estranged sister who's become a vigilante in her own right. Fortunately, not much time was wasted in fleshing out her character, as the midseason premiere was re-titled "My Name is Emiko Queen" at the eleventh hour. Needless to say, the content reflected that.
If you tuned in for last night's episode of Supergirl, "Blood Memory," then you saw Nia Nal take a huge stride toward her destiny of becoming a superhero. Not only did a trip to her hometown allow the aspiring journalist to further understand her powers, but she also became part of the exclusive club privy to Kara's secret identity.
When a Birds of Prey movie was initially announced, one thing in particular that made me excited for such a project was seeing Huntress for the first time on the silver screen. In short, I've come to like this heroine who toes a moral grey line over the years, not to mention her familiar purple and black attire. Maybe it's just me, but I think such threads would look especially cool when adapted to live action.
One thing in particular that's got me looking forward to the Birds of Prey movie is how it'll bring a variety of DC characters to the silver screen for the first time. Sure, the Cathy Yan-directed flick does feature the highly anticipated return of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, but she'll also bring Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) along for the ride. And if that weren't enough, Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) will serve as the villain of the piece.
As someone who's been anticipating the Birds of Prey movie, you'd better believe I was surprised to wake up and find some official teasers this morning. Granted, I knew filming was set to commence around this time, but you can never be too sure of when Hollywood will give up the goods.
The DC Universe line of animated films does it again with Reign of the Supermen, a worthy followup to The Death of Superman that finally adapts the classic storyline featuring Superboy, Steel and others.
