Over the past few years, I've repeatedly commended Gotham for bringing a host of Batman villains who've never been adapted to live action to the small screen. To list off a few, the likes of Hugo Strange, Professor Pyg, Flamingo, Electrocutioner and Azrael can now say they've been welcomed into the same living rooms as Penguin, Riddler, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy.
In recent memory, Nora West-Allen has managed to get herself into one pickle after another. Usually, she runs headstrong into a situation to impress her father, Barry, and her inexperience sometimes gets the best of her. In fact, the latest episode of The Flash saw her back broken by Cicada (don't worry, speedsters heal much quicker than others), with the next installment stranding her inside the mind of the big bad's niece.
When it comes to what lies beyond Arrow's 150th episode, "Emerald Archer," showrunner and executive producer Beth Schwartz has been decidedly tight-lipped. In fact, she's even obscured titles when posting pictures of scripts on Twitter.
If anything, 2019 has gotten off to a great start for fans of Kate Kane. To be more specific, not only has The CW officially ordered a pilot episode for a solo Batwoman series to be filmed, but now the supporting cast is finally being filled. Actually, only three of those slots are now occupied, though we're sure the others will follow shortly.
Like many other DC fans out there, I was cautiously optimistic heading into Titans' series premiere. After being left unimpressed by paparazzi photos showing the cast's costumes (except for Robin, because his threads are awesome), I was also somewhat taken aback by the vulgar and overly violent debut trailer that dropped over the summer.
Now that Aquaman has raked in more than one billion dollars at the global box office, it's probably safe to assume that as long as Warner Bros. continue making enjoyable DC-themed films that resonate with most moviegoers, they should be good from here on out. In fact, recent news even says that more focus is being placed on standalone superhero flicks going forward, as opposed to following the Marvel Studios model.
Odd as I found the creative decision to wrap up Trigon's arc during the early part of season 2, I won't deny how Titans posted a terrific debut with its first eleven episodes. That said, I don't think it's too soon to begin discussing who else will show up soon enough.
Believe it or not, the original version of Resident Evil 2 released on Playstation is actually what got me into the series back in 1998. Having confessed that, you can imagine I'm looking forward to the remake hitting shelves later this week. Funny enough, I and undoubtedly many other fans out there thought something such as this would swiftly follow the remake of RE 1 developed for the Gamecube in 2002, but I guess the term "better late than never" certainly applies here.
In just a matter of days, we may very well bear witness to one of the most surreal episodes of The Flash to ever air once "Memorabilia" makes its debut. If you've been following along with recent news, then you know this is when Barry and Iris will venture inside Nora's mind - and no doubt uncover her most deeply guarded secrets in the process.
Maybe all of the recent hoopla surrounding the next Guardians of the Galaxy film being delayed and possibly retooled due to the firing of James Gunn has something to do with the books being shaken up, but I like to think there's less pressure on Marvel Comics to have their products reflect the movies in recent years. After all, there's a reason why we refer to the literature as "source material."
