The tumultuous history of Community has been heavily documented. Following creator Dan Harmon's exit, the loss of leading cast members, to its brief cancellation, the quirky sitcom has fought back at every turn and emerged the victor. With its future in the balance, Yahoo stepped in to save the meta-comedy and offer it a unique 'delivery method' for its sixth season - its streaming service, Yahoo! Screen.
The master of horror, Stephen King, took a side-step into hard-boiled detective territory for last year's Mr. Mercedes novel. While some of his dedicated followers - his constant readers - prefer his established genre, the vast majority are just as content with a brief escape into less terrifying waters. Ally McBeal creator David E. Kelley and Lost director Jack Bender can be roped into that latter category, as the pair are now collaborating on the adaptation for Sonar Entertainment.
Brad Pitt's Plan B production outfit are building a reputation for backing solid dramatic fare, which is set to continue with the just-announced financial drama The Big Short. The adaptation of the non-fiction best-seller by Michael Lewis will mark Pitt's second dalliance with the author's works following Moneyball. This time around, however, the film has attracted a trio of big-name headliners, as Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale are all on board to star.
Deadline is reporting on a new collaboration between Gillian Flynn and her Gone Girl big screen cohorts, David Fincher and Ben Affleck. Apparently, the trio are deep in talks to craft a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's seminal mystery, Strangers On A Train. Simply titled Strangers, this updated take on the Hitchcockian classic is set up at Warner Bros., with Affleck producing under his Pearl St. banner.
One of the biggest news stories to come out of Tinseltown last year - aside from The Interview shenanigans - was word that Showtime were reprising David Lynch and Mark Frost's Twin Peaks series. Talk on the limited series quietened down during 2014's latter months but today Kyle MacLachlan emerged during the network's stint at the Television Critics Association's press tour - with his infamous cup of coffee in hand.
BBC America has dropped a new image from its sci-fi clone hit, Orphan Black, and alas it's not of Tatiana Maslany in a new guise. As season two closed, the girls - well, series lead, Sarah - discovered that their clutch of genetic identicals weren't the only ones in existence. Nope, as well as the female clones crafted by the LEDA group, a gaggle of male clones were created under the name 'Project Castor' - and now we've got a better look at a frightening newbie.
The worldwide popularity of the Fifty Shades Of Grey novel soon prompted the production of a film that's about to land in cinemas across the globe. For every person who simply adored the book, there's a fair few who thought it left a lot to be desired (oh, the irony considering its subject matter!) Whichever camp you're in, there's no mistaking that the big screen version is destined to be the kind of 'event' that will provoke polarized reactions from the public.
Along with the slowly degrading animated corpses of the Walkers, The Walking Dead has charted the progress of Rick's beard as another sort of time lapse device. From his first steps out of his hospital bed in season 1, we've seen Mr. Grimes lose all concern for a return to his former baby-faced visage. If this latest teaser (and last week's new artwork) for the remainder of season 5 is any indication, Rick's happy to let it grow. And that means only one thing: times will be getting even more tough for the living in this season's final eight episodes.
The Star Wars cinematic canon is currently undergoing a major overhaul as Disney has outlined a variety of movies all tied into that infamous galaxy far, far away. The first out of the gate is scheduled this December in the shape of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens that will maintain the central storyline of the franchise, picking up the plot sometime after Jedi. After that, fans of the force will have one year until Gareth Edwards' spin-off flick arrives - a film that's still shrouded in mystery.
Last Friday, the web lit up with rumours that the first instalment of Warner Bros' Batman and Superman megaflick would be split into two parts. It all began with an image posted to Imgur, that suggested Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice would be divided into two separate movies. According to the poster, the screenshot in question was taken directly from the film's teaser trailer - itself slated to land in front of The Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending on February 6th. The shot hinted that we'd be first introduced to the comic book superheroes this October in Batman V Superman: Enter The Knight, before the second part - Dawn Of Justice - would land in March 2016.
