The master of horror, Stephen King, took a side-step into hard-boiled detective territory for last year's Mr. Mercedes novel. While some of his dedicated followers - his constant readers - prefer his established genre, the vast majority are just as content with a brief escape into less terrifying waters. Ally McBeal creator David E. Kelley and Lost director Jack Bender can be roped into that latter category, as the pair are now collaborating on the adaptation for Sonar Entertainment.
Brad Pitt's Plan B production outfit are building a reputation for backing solid dramatic fare, which is set to continue with the just-announced financial drama The Big Short. The adaptation of the non-fiction best-seller by Michael Lewis will mark Pitt's second dalliance with the author's works following Moneyball. This time around, however, the film has attracted a trio of big-name headliners, as Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale are all on board to star.
Deadline is reporting on a new collaboration between Gillian Flynn and her Gone Girl big screen cohorts, David Fincher and Ben Affleck. Apparently, the trio are deep in talks to craft a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's seminal mystery, Strangers On A Train. Simply titled Strangers, this updated take on the Hitchcockian classic is set up at Warner Bros., with Affleck producing under his Pearl St. banner.

The Star Wars cinematic canon is currently undergoing a major overhaul as Disney has outlined a variety of movies all tied into that infamous galaxy far, far away. The first out of the gate is scheduled this December in the shape of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens that will maintain the central storyline of the franchise, picking up the plot sometime after Jedi. After that, fans of the force will have one year until Gareth Edwards' spin-off flick arrives - a film that's still shrouded in mystery.
Last Friday, the web lit up with rumours that the first instalment of Warner Bros' Batman and Superman megaflick would be split into two parts. It all began with an image posted to Imgur, that suggested Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice would be divided into two separate movies. According to the poster, the screenshot in question was taken directly from the film's teaser trailer - itself slated to land in front of The Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending on February 6th. The shot hinted that we'd be first introduced to the comic book superheroes this October in Batman V Superman: Enter The Knight, before the second part - Dawn Of Justice - would land in March 2016.
