How excited you are for HBO's upcoming series The Leftovers probably depends on how much you like Damon Lindelof. The Lost co-creator and showrunner has had a hand in several high profile genre projects since his pop culture phenomenon ended, deciding to take his talents to the big screen for films like Star Trek, Cowboys & Aliens, and Prometheus. The Leftovers marks his much-anticipated return to television though and audiences are definitely curious about it.
TV finales are a hard thing to pull off, especially when the shows pack an emotional punch or require a large time investment from fans. Series like Lost, Dexter and The Sopranos are famously divisive, and as of last week's finale, we can now add How I Met Your Mother to that list as well. The wave of negative reactions from fans and critics was a bit surprising, because while we've come to expect such debates over drama series, sitcoms are usually more straightforward.
Despite increasingly negative reviews with each passing installment, Michael Bay's Transformers franchise has become one of the biggest in Hollywood history. When the third film, Dark of the Moon, crossed the billion-dollar box office mark in 2011, we knew that a fourth outing wouldn't be too far behind. Sure enough, Bay decided to stick around a bit longer, and is bringing Age of Extinction to theaters this July.

I think that we are all well aware of how much Hollywood loves a good sequel, but I honestly didn't see this one coming. Documentaries usually don't require a second look, but 2006's climate-change doc An Inconvenient Truth is an exception. Despite making a splash upon release (grossing $50 million, winning two Oscars, and helping Al Gore win a Nobel Peace Prize), the movie has had little effect on how the public views global warming. The issue of climate change is still unresolved and many refuse to believe that the problem even exists. According to producer Lawrence Bender, that's exactly why a sequel is necessary.
