By now, most people know the name of Joss Whedon, whether it's from his days working in TV with shows like Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel, or from his recent work on film projects like The Avengers and The Cabin in the Woods. You may have noticed that he tends to work in a similar genre most of the time, so who would have thought that he would go and secretly film an adaptation of a William Shakespeare play?
Earlier this year, Lee Daniels' new film The Paperboy premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to less-than-stellar reviews. It's been six years since the original Silent Hill film was released, garnering mostly negative reviews. The first time I saw it, I didn't find it that bad, but I more so marveled at the fascinating production design. However, the second time I saw it, the weaknesses in the story really stood out.
There have always been murmurs of a possible American remake of Kinji Fukasaku's masterpiece Battle Royale, which is based on the novel by Koushun Takami, but luckily it has never materialized. However, there is now a possibility for the remake's resurrection on another medium.

It's been awhile since we've seen a film from The Wachowski siblings, whose last film was the forgettable Speed Racer in 2008. However, there has been much speculation surrounding their latest project, the mysterious Cloud Atlas, which stars Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, and James D’Arcy.
Not long ago, Peter Jackson mentioned at Comic-Con that he wanted to film more footage for his upcoming adaptation of The Hobbit. However, what was unclear was if this would be footage that would be incorporated into the existing two films for extended editions or if it would become another film entirely.
Though it's sad to see him go, we've known for some time that The Dark Knight Rises would be Christopher Nolan's final Batman film. The movie has been extremely successful so far, pulling in about $161 million at the box office, and it's meant a lot to us to see him tackle such a fascinating character, and to have him do it in a serious and realistic fashion.
