Just a few days ago, we got word that Andrew Dominik’s Killing Them Softly will be making its way to theaters on October 19th, While we still don’t have a trailer for the film just yet, today sees the release of several new images that give us a look at some of the stars, including Brad Pitt, Richard Jenkins and Ray Liotta, amongst others.
Premiering earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival, the film got nearly unanimous positive reviews. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the film has been recommended by 15 out of 17 critics, who have given it a score of 7.7/10. Our own James Powell had a chance to see the film at the festival and found it to be “an angry, politicized, stylishly crafted gangster film that packs enough of a punch to keep your interest,” giving it an 80% in his review.
For those unfamiliar with the film, it tells the story of Jackie Cogan (Pitt), a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that went down during a mob-protected poker game.
It certainly sounds like it could be an interesting film, but I’m going to reserve any preliminary judgments until I at least see a trailer, which should be along any day now given that the film is opening in less than three months.
