Given all the success that Kings Of Leon have had over the years, you might be surprised to learn that they’ve never actually had a number one album before. With seven albums in their history, the band had only managed to reach number two previously with Come Around Sundown and Mechanical Bull. But that was before the new Kings Of Leon arrived and released their latest record, WALLS - which is now their first effort to nab a number one spot on the charts.
Drake is celebrating his big 30th birthday today, and he kicked off the celebratory day by giving all of us some presents instead. Long rumored that he had some new projects up his sleeve, Drake blew the lid off the news during his OVO Sound Radio episode last night, debuting new tracks and announcing a new release for December.
Taylor Swift might not be releasing any kind of music this year, but you can’t deny that she has been in the spotlight all throughout 2016. Whether it’s a controversy with a Kanye West song or a breakup with a world renowned DJ, Swift is still all over the headlines, and that doesn’t mean she has completely strayed from music of her own, either. If you recall, Swift took over the summer with a secret co-write on the Calvin Harris and Rihanna collab, “This What You Came For,” and she just performed it live for the very first time.
Little Mix are done dwelling over their exes, and what better way to celebrate it than to head out on a road trip with some of your best friends? The UK girl group drops the music video for their break-up anthem, “Shout Out To My Ex,” and it’s just the kind of visual that one would need to help get over a former love.
Bebe Rexha has had quite the eclectic career since hitting the mainstream back in 2010. It actually started in the least likely of places: with the help of a guy from a pop-punk band. When Fall Out Boy disbanded in 2009, bassist Pete Wentz went on to form the electronic group, Black Cards, with Rexha, but it was cut short by Rexha’s departure a few years later. It seemed to have worked out for all parties though, considering Fall Out Boy’s huge comeback and Rexha’s foray into a solo career. Since then, we’ve seen her with rappers, with DJs, and with pop stars, and now we’re finally getting a solo record of her own.
Andy Grammer has a way of doing much more with his music videos than simply providing a visual aid to one of his songs. Take “Honey, I’m Good,” for instance: the hit song had a clip that featured a montage of nearly a hundred actual couples that have stayed together for better or worse -- some shown to have been in a relationship for multiple decades. Now, with his new single, “Fresh Eyes,” Grammer is taking his video treatment to show something a bit more serious as he delves into the homelessness epidemic that is ongoing in the United States.
If Sia’s This Is Acting wasn’t enough to scratch your Sia itch, you’re in luck. The “Cheap Thrills” star released her critically and commercially acclaimed record this past January, and new music is already here. Following the release of her recent Kendrick Lamar-assisted single, “The Greatest,” Sia has dropped the deluxe edition of This Is Acting today, jam packed with new music.
Some artists just scream “superstar,” and that’s the vibe you get from UK pop songstress Dua Lipa. The 21-year-old has been ruling the charts overseas with her single “Hotter Than Hell,” but her recent track, “Blow Your Mind (Mwah),” hits even harder. Today, Dua dropped the acoustic version of the latter, because even the best parties sometimes need an intermission.
Blink-182 is giving everybody a hefty dose of nostalgia today thanks to a partnership with Spotify. In a new Spotify-created content series called Flash Frame, Blink are recreating their iconic “What’s My Age Again?” music video for their new California single, “She’s Out Of Her Mind.”
When Drake released Views earlier this year, the album version of the song “Pop Style” didn’t feature Kanye West and Jay Z like it had when it was released to digital outlets a few weeks before. Kanye shed some light on the situation in a long-winded rant at his Saint Pablo tour last night, blaming Tidal and Apple Music for his absence.
