After the massive success that Adele had with her album, 21, it was hard to imagine that anything she did after could ever top it. Since 2011, she has become an icon with multiple Platinum singles including her theme for Skyfall and "Rolling In The Deep," while 21 ended up dominating the Billboard 200 charts for years. 21 managed to sell over eleven and a half million records as of last February, and it’s been the only Diamond certified record released since Usher’s 2004 album, Confessions – well, until now.
It wasn’t long ago that Bridgit Mendler was one of the biggest up and coming pop artists in the game. The Disney actress-turned-solo artist had a crazy amount of star potential when she released her debut solo album, Hello My Name Is…, back in 2012. Supported by the success of her single, “Ready or Not,” Mendler had it all, but there wasn’t much happening on the music end after the record, and eventually, she left Hollywood Records. Now, Mendler is finally getting the wheels turning on new material and just released the music video for her new single, “Atlantis.”
Not every music video needs to be filled with non-stop action – case in point, Hailee Steinfeld. Coming off a summer where she made waves on the charts with the singles “Rock Bottom” and “Starving,” the singer and actress is finally releasing a music video for the Zedd-featured “Starving” track.
One of the biggest pop tours scheduled for next year just got bigger. Ariana Grande announced her “Dangerous Woman” headlining tour earlier this month, but it wasn’t until this weekend that the pop star announced that Little Mix will be joining alongside her during the U.S. run.
It’s officially less than one month until Lady Gaga unleashes her new album, Joanne, into the world for everyone to feast their ears on. We’ve pretty much gotten everything we need from the album besides the actual music: we’ve heard the single, seen the music video, viewed the record’s beautiful cover art, and now, she’s giving us Joanne’s track listing.
DNCE is bringing the funk to a radio station near you soon. The pop rock band just announced the details for their upcoming debut full-length, but they’re also gearing up to push the album’s lead single, “Body Moves,” which is now premiering.
Earlier this month, Andrew McMahon unveiled the new single from his Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness project entitled, “Fire Escape.” The song features signature keys from McMahon and a chorus straight out of the handbook of Mumford & Sons, but it’s much more pop than folk sounding. Now, he’s released an official music video to accompany the track.
It isn’t a Skylar Grey album without a feature from frequent collaborator Eminem. The duo has linked up on a number of tracks over the years, like “C’mon Let Me Ride” off Grey’s 2013 record, Don’t Look Down, when the rapper lent a verse to it. In terms of Eminem music, Grey co-wrote his huge hit with Rihanna, “Love The Way You Lie,” and featured on the Marshall Mathers LP 2 cut, “A–hole.” They even got together on Dr. Dre’s track, “I Need A Doctor” back in 2011. With this extensive history together, Grey and Eminem have mastered an unmatched musical chemistry, and their new song together is yet another highlight.
The Weeknd sure knows how to get the ball rolling. After weeks and weeks of teasing a new era of music, the “Can’t Feel My Face” singer decided to stop the torture and finally dish out album details, and even drop the record’s lead single and title track, “Starboy,” too.
Title tracks for albums are important – they more or less represent the purpose or the deeper meaning of an album. While a record is never obligated to have one, there’s a certain sense of respect for the artists who decide to go for it. They’re basically promoting an entire album with one simple song, because if anyone hears it, they’ll automatically associate the two together. So, when a title track comes out as a promo single, it’s worth getting excited for the full thing if the song ends up being pretty good. That’s now the case with Kings of Leon, who just debuted the music video for the title track off their new album, Walls.
