Arty is about as respected as an artist can get in the mainstream trance world. The Anjunabeats signee wowed the world with "Stronger" a few months back, but has been silent on the release front - up until now, that is.
About a year ago, I would have been overjoyed to hear that Seven Lions had put out a new track. Last year's Worlds Apart EP introduced such unprecedented production values to the melodic dubstep arena that the Santa Barbara, California-based producer achieved global popularity - but his recent productions have left behind the definitive, melancholy bass drops of his former style for watered-down trance melodies.
You might remember a couple months ago when Steve Angello left his residency at LIFE nightclub at the SLS Hotel in Las Vegas for one at brand-new Caesar's Palace nightclub OMNIA - and if you do, you'll remember that there wasn't a whole lot of information about why he made the move. In perhaps an effort to address some of the murmurs in the nightlife community, Angello has released a promo video titled Step Into The Space for the new residency that sheds a little light on some of his motives for making the switch.
For the first time in three years, Dillon Francis has contributed a guest mix for BBC Radio 1 Xtra show Diplo and Friends - and the entire second half of this edition featured the "deep house" stylings of his DJ Hanzel persona. In addition to a slew of comedy videos, Francis has also released mixes under the whimsical alias to further poke fun at dance music elitists.
Dillon Francis wasted no time announcing that he would be working on an EP following the release of his debut full-length album, Money Sucks, Friends Rule. As well as the effort may have been received by much of his ever-growing fan base, it didn't resonate as well with diehard fans who yearn for the Francis of yesteryear. Therefore, as soon as he revealed that the EP would revisit his moombahton roots, the EDM world waited with baited breath.
The ever-relevant Skrillex has revealed that his global takeover will continue, as he has announced a tour across the nation of India in October. It's no secret that EDM is big business in India, and if SFX Entertainment's recent restructuring stateside is any indication, the industry may turn out to see more longevity on the other side of the world.
Disclosure's Howard and Guy Lawrence have been pulling out all the stops to keep the blogosphere buzzing about their upcoming album, Caracal - the latest of which being yet another track from the effort entitled "Willing & Able." Featuring a markedly lower tempo and soulful vocals by "Walk" vocalist Kwabs, the track makes for a tasteful departure from traditional house music without abandoning many of the outfit's hallmarks.
Leave it to Above & Beyond to make a remix series for a group on a reunion tour somehow seem tasteful. Earlier in the year, the UK trance outfit debuted a remix of legendary '90s electronic music trio Faithless' "Salva Mea," and are finally ready to release it to the general public.
It's about time Grandtheft kicked another original our way. The Toronto-based producer participated in a couple of massive Mad Decent EPs last year, but has delivered little more than a remix in the months since. Now, he's teamed up with fellow Canadian Sleepy Tom on "Hold On," a future bass number with a break beat so subtle you hardly notice it.
Tiësto's takeover of the western world is already a decades-deep endeavor, but it looks as though he doesn't plan on stopping there. The Dutch EDM icon has released the official music video for a Mandarin version of "Change Your World," an original track from his Club Life Vol. 4 mix album that now features vocals by Mandopop sensation Jane Zhang instead of the original recordings of Nashville-based Morgan Karr.
