If there’s a problem with Lorin Ashton A.K.A. Bassnectar releasing what he calls a “mixtape” instead of an album, it’s that his actual albums have already set the bar pretty high.
Few artists have had the practically overnight success of Alesso. The Swedish progressive house prodigy has proven that he can straddle the line between pop and EDM with his releases over the past four years, and even after the widespread success of his debut album he continues to deliver.
Avicii's made quite the comeback this festival season after his health issues forced him to take a step away from touring last year, and his latest tracks prove that he hasn't lost his touch in the studio either. He's followed up his recent Martin Garrix collaboration, "Waiting For Love," by debuting another folk-tinged hit in the form of "Broken Arrows (Hope In Your Heart)," a song certain to gain traction in the months to follow.
The strongest newcomer to the North American festival circuit, ID&T and SFX Entertainment joint venture TomorrowWorld celebrates its third edition this fall. By opening GRAND's official promo video with his latest track, "Cinematic," he effectively married the larger-than-life imagery of the spectacle to the song itself - so much so that when we finally listened to it with no visual aid it still made us relive the wonderment of the shows all over again.
This past weekend, Porter Robinson fans in attendance at a special Monstercat afterparty for Digital Dreams festival in Toronto were in for a real treat. The young DJ/producer made a bold departure from the live shows of his Worlds tour by surprising those in attendance with a special DJ set packed with fan favorites and novel arrangements alike.
In case you didn't already have enough summer anthems to choose from, another euphoric progressive house track has hit the airwaves. Jay Hardway's "Wake Up" is a distinctly Dutch main stage number that will likely make the DJ/producer stand out in more people's minds by the end of the summer.
We were already excited enough to learn that the "When We Were Young" producer's esteemed moombahton EP had received an official release date, but if his latest release, "Bruk Bruk (I Need Your Lovin)" is any indication, it will be a quality return to his roots.
