It is in the nature of teaser trailers to, you know, tease; give the audience a little bit about the movie so that we feel like watching it, or at least are intrigued enough to click on the full length trailer when it hits. But James Franco doesn't play by your rules! He thinks that the name of the film and a few shots of a man staring crazily into the camera, accompanied by a thick Southern-ish voiceover, is all you need to know about his latest film, Child of God.
I'm not certain that anyone is truly looking forward to seeing Keanu Reeves in 47 Ronin. What with all the delays and the script problems, there was a high likelihood that this one was never actually going to see the light of day. But apparently it will, and not that long ago we had the first American trailer for the film, which was less than stellar.
Some of the most successful Japanese films to arrive in American cinemas come straight out of Studio Ghibli, the home of director Hayao Miyazaki. Part of the reason for that has to be Ghibli's partnering with Disney as their US distributor. While the studio briefly flirted with a smaller distributor, they've returned to the mouse house for their latest Miyazaki film, The Wind Rises.

Well, now, here's an interesting notion that I did not expect to come across today. There's apparently a Kickstarter campaign circulating that has nothing to do with Zach Braff or James Franco trying to get their fans to fund their vanity projects! Young director Bradley Bjornstad is trying to get funding together to develop a documentary about Ghostbusters 2 entitled Ghostbusters 2: The Original Vision, as well as campaigning to get all the footage from the original film from Sony.
Whether you love or hate the current iteration of James Bond with Daniel Craig in the lead role, one thing you have to admit is that there's very little humor. Despite one or two lines in Casino Royale (and the unintentional hilarity of all of Quantum of Solace), there's not a lot of jokes, sexual innuendo, or even self-aware winks at the genre that characterize some of the best Bond films of yesteryear. Now, according to Daniel Craig himself, there's hope that Bond 24 will try to get some of that old irony back again.
The best superhero films to hit theatres recently have had some pretty awesome directorial names behind them. But there are a number of cult directors who have publicly declined franchise films (Joe Cornish), or expressed their lack of interest (Neill Blomkamp). You can now add The Raid: Redemption director Gareth Evans to the list of directors not about to make a PG-13 superhero movie.
If you only know the version of The Wicker Man that starred Nicolas Cage and a bunch of bees, I want you to leave right now and rent, download or stream Robin Hardy's original 1973 classic The Wicker Man, starring Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward. There's a world of difference between that film and the travesty that Neil LaBute foisted upon the world. Unfortunately, Robin Hardy didn't really make much since The Wicker Man, but now he has plans to complete the proposed trilogy of The Wicker Man, 2011's The Wicker Tree and the upcoming The Wrath of the Gods.
