It's been well documented that Paramount Pictures' live-action adaptation of mega-popular manga/anime Ghost in the Shell has been underperforming since it opened this past weekend, but the latest box office figures indicate that the movie might wind up costing the studio quite a bit more than we previously thought.
It's only April, but already, 2017 has brought with it some terrific films and TV shows, several of which will be receiving honors from MTV, as the company looks to shower praise upon the best of the best with their annual awards show, which has received a name change. Instead of just being called The MTV Movie Awards, they're now known as The MTV Movie & TV Awards. As always, there will still be a mix of more serious accolades along with some fun/light-hearted ones, and this week, the full list of nominees was released.
Following some character teasers for Mr. Wednesday, Shadow Moon and Mad Sweeney, the latest main player from Startz's small-screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman's American Gods to get the spotlight is Shadow's "dead wife," Laura, who'll be played by Aussie Sucker Punch actress, Emily Browning.
At long last, The Walking Dead television show has caught up to the "All-Out War" arc from the comics, which should please many fans. Season 7 had been slowly building to it and with the recent finale truly setting things off, we can fully expect AMC's hit series to dive headfirst into the storyline once it returns. But should we be worried that it's going to soon pull a Game of Thrones and actually surpass the source material?
Over the past few weeks, we've seen quite a few images from the Hawaii set of Marvel and ABC's Inhumans find their way online, providing fans with first glimpses of several of the main characters we'll be meeting when the series kicks off this September. Though the likes of Black Bolt, Medusa and Gorgon did somewhat resemble their comic book counterparts in terms of costume colors, many took issue with how... well, how human most of them looked. As it turns out, though, there might well be a reasonable explanation for this.
Though he doesn't actually feature to a great degree in Neil Gaiman's source material, hard-drinking Leprechaun Mad Sweeney is easily one of the most popular characters from American Gods. On the upcoming Starz TV adaptation, Sweeney will be played by Pablo Shreiber (if he looks familiar, that's because he starred as the vile "Porn Stache" on Orange is the New Black), and he's the focus of the latest character promo.
It's been the most frustrating 'will he or won't he?' debate of the last several years, but tonight, it appears that it's almost at an end. Page Six is reporting that Daniel Craig looks ready to sign back on for Bond 25, after sitting on the fence for far too long now, changing his tune more times than we can possibly count.
Variety is reporting tonight that Spider-Man: Homecoming star Michael Keaton has his eye on another villainous role, this time in Dumbo. One of the many, many live-action adaptations in the works over at Disney, the project will be directed by Tim Burton and has already recruited Eva Green and Danny DeVito into its ranks, with Colin Farrell looking likely to join, too.
We've been privy to quite a lot of new Spider-Man: Homecoming information these last couple of days since multiple websites debuted their set visit reports simultaneously, but this latest tidbit may be the most intriguing yet.
I think we can all agree that The Walking Dead kicked off its seventh season with a bang, dropping two character deaths on us in a brutal and shocking fashion. It was a strong start and one which had us hopeful that the remaining episodes would follow suit. And while it wasn't all bad, the first half of the season, on the whole, was definitely a bit too sluggish and meandering, drawing out storylines far too long and delaying the inevitable.
