Following some new concept art and a few leaked set pics giving us our first look at Alden Ehrenreich in costume as the young Han Solo, the guys over at Making Star Wars have come across a video that gives us a quick glimpse of the iconic character's "podcar," which he'll presumably use to get himself from A to B at some point in the currently shooting Star Wars Anthology film.
Aside from all their big screen projects coming down the pipeline, Fox is also doing some exciting things with the X-Men universe on television. Earlier this year, we saw Legion arrive on FX, which turned out to be a huge hit with fans and critics alike. Now, we've got The Gifted to look forward to. Set to premiere in the fall, none of the mutants from the films will be showing up in this new series, as far as we know. That means no Cyclops, no Jean Grey, no Magneto, etc. However, there's nothing to say that some of these characters won't pop up in the future.
On June 21st, Michael Bay will unveil his latest (and potentially greatest?) entry into Paramount’s live-action juggernaut. Word is that Transformers: The Last Knight will go down as the director’s last dalliance with those beloved robots in disguise, but with rumblings of multiple Transformers spinoff movies kicking into gear over at Paramount, don’t be too surprised if (when?) the filmmaker changes his mind.
The numbers for this weekend's box office have now rolled in and though it was a close race, Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant has squeaked by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to claim the top spot. With $36 million under its belt (down from the projected $40 million), the new chapter in the sci-fi/horror saga flew to number 1, though that doesn't necessarily mean Fox execs are happy with the film's performance.
Depending on who you ask, Event Horizon is either a minor cult classic or B-movie garbage. Us? Well, we certainly won't say it's a shining gem in the horror genre, but it is a bloody good time and a wholly enjoyable watch, despite its shortcomings. Paul W.S. Anderson’s space horror flick has a pretty passionate fanbase and no matter where you stand in regards to how it holds up all these years later, or even how it played upon release, it's hard not to wonder how the fabled Director's Cut would have turned out.
An ancient, inexplicable curse binds Tom Cruise to Princess Ahmanet in this new promo for The Mummy, Universal and Alex Kurtzman’s mystical reboot that’s set to unlock a new world of gods and monsters. That's not the only thing it's set to do though, as the pic is also expected to kickstart the studio's Monsters Universe, one which will make room for characters like the Invisible Man, Frankenstein, the Wolf Man and more.
It's been a bit of a strange journey for The Dark Tower, Sony and Nikolaj Arcel’s long-in-development – and we do mean long-in-development – adaptation of Stephen King’s undisputed magnum opus that’s booked in for release on August 4th. As we just mentioned, the project's been in various stages of development for years now, passing through numerous actors and directors until it finally started to come together in its current form.
Nowadays, it's difficult to imagine anyone but Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Over the course of 17 years, the actor made the role his own, giving a legendary performance across numerous films in the X-Men franchise, which all culminated in James Mangold's Logan earlier this year.
The Coldest City, Antony Johnston and Sam Hart’s graphic novel about the dangerous world of espionage, has been simmering on the back-burner ever since Charlize Theron swooped in to acquire the screen rights a few years back. That’s hardly surprising, either, given the actress’ busy, busy schedule, but we’re now only a few months away from welcoming Johnston and Hart’s Cold War thriller onto the big screen in the form of Atomic Blonde.
For 17 long, long years, Hugh Jackman brought Wolverine to life with such a raw intensity that it’s difficult to imagine anyone else donning those iconic adamantium claws anytime soon. That saga, one with many ups and downs, reached its conclusion two months ago with the release of Logan, James Mangold’s poignant, R-rated finale that struck a chord with critics and X-Men fans the world over. However, with the actor now done with the role for good - or so he says - the question on everyone's mind is what's going to happen to good ol' Wolvie?
