This past Sunday's installment of AMC's The Walking Dead returned to a couple of characters that have been absent from the show for quite a while: Tara and Heath. We caught up with the duo as they were nearing the end of their 2-week supply run, just before they encounter a bunch of sand-walkers - but it wasn't the imminent danger facing our heroes that generated the most discussion among online trolls.
While season 7 of The Walking Dead has proven to be somewhat underwhelming so far, it has had its moments. The premiere was absolutely electrifying and still one of the most talked about television events of the year, while subsequent episodes provided some quality scenes thanks to a few interesting character developments and a number of strong performances.
Though the final installment of Christopher Nolan's acclaimed Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, is (almost) as universally loved as the previous entries, the film does seem to come in for a bit more criticism than Batman Begins and its masterful follow-up, The Dark Knight. There are many reasons for this (the ending, Bane's arc, the perceived plot holes etc), but what generates arguably the most backlash is Talia al Ghul's (Marion Cotillard) death scene towards the end of the movie.
Brad Peyton is a guy who likes to destroy stuff. Just take one look at his current filmography for proof of that. After levelling cities with Dwayne Johnson in earthquake flick San Andreas, the director has signed up for a sequel, which will apparently be even bigger in terms of the destruction. Beyond that, he'll be bringing us Rampage, a video game adaptation which will see him re-team with Johnson yet again for more mayhem and madness.
Doctor Strange is another runaway smash for Marvel Studios, having recently crossed the $600 million mark at the global box office - but although the movie has been embraced by fans and critics alike, there are a few elements that have come in for criticism. Probably the most notable of these is the depiction of the Dread Dormammu, who the Sorcerer Supreme encounters towards the end of the film when the villain is attempting to suck the earth into his Dark Dimension.
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns from its brief hiatus with a brand new episode tomorrow night, and following the first Simmons-centric clip from a few days back, ABC has released another sneak peek from "Deals with Our Devils." This time, the focus is placed on Daisy as she attempts to comfort Gabriel Reyes following the disappearance of his brother.
In less than three weeks, Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be with us. It seems like just yesterday that Disney acquired Lucasfilm, in the process announcing plans for a new trilogy sprinkled with Anthology films in between. But here we are, four years later and just weeks away now from the debut of Rogue One.
The extended edition of David Ayer's Suicide Squad won't be made available on Blu-ray until next month, but fans have been able to watch the film on Digital HD for a while now, and on the heels of the recent Carmine Falcone reveal, another Redditor has managed to uncover a few more interesting easter eggs relating to The Caped Crusader.
The speculation train continues to roll on full steam ahead today, as more evidence has surfaced pointing towards Monty Python member John Cleese having a role in Zack Snyder's Justice League. If you recall, last week some eagle-eyed Twitter users noticed that both DCEU photographer Clay Enos and the official UK account for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice followed the actor. It's obviously a bit of a stretch, but given that this sort of thing has revealed secret casting in the past, fans immediately put two and two together.
Welcome to the ninth episode of our new, weekly video show: Geek Out. We all know how busy the work week can be, and in the increasingly crowded space of comic book movies and the like, there seems to be a never ending stream of news flowing out on a day to day basis. Casting this, trailer that, rumor here, speculation there - it really does never end and can get very tiresome trying to keep up with it all.
