Developer Atlus confirmed that sex-themed thriller Catherine will in fact reach western shores, and will see a US release on both PS3 and Xbox 360 this summer. Rumors about the game's western release started popping up almost immediately after Atlus said that the game might not be released outside of Japan. Of course, since the game has received so much attention from the press over its strong sexual themes, it's no wonder that the game had to be released here eventually.
Killzone, as a series, has always been in a tough spot in the highly saturated FPS market. Unfortunately, being a Sony-exclusive with a long development cycle seems to have effected the series' overall popularity. As a result, the series can seem to be under-appreciated compared to some of its more popular cousins. Unfortunately for developer Guerilla Games, Killzone 3 does not exactly help the franchise to set itself apart from the pack. Though it looks absolutely fantastic, Killzone 3’s single player campaign becomes repetitive at times. Meanwhile, the game's multiplayer is as great as ever, and an excellent departure from other popular FPS series. The game might not hold your attention for long though as it only adds one new game type to multiplayer and there are only so many levels that provide a diverse set of experiences. Still, the game is fully worth checking out and is a strong effort.
The second Fable 3 DLC pack, Traitor's Keep, will be available on XBLA starting on March 1st. As you might have guessed based on the title, the pack's story revolves around exploring a prison. The pack adds three new areas; Clockwork Island, Ravenscar Keep and The Godwin Estate. Traitor's Keep will set you back 560 MS points or about 7 dollars.
Still on the fence about it? Check out the screens below to get a better feel.
The multiplayer beta for Gears of War 3 will take place in "mid-april" according to Microsoft. No word on how long the beta would last or when it would end but to gain access to the beta simply pick up a copy of Epic Games' latest shoot-em-up, Bulletstorm, on the Xbox 360. If you didn't get Bulletstorm, but you still want to play Gears of War 3 three months early, maybe it's time to run out and grab a copy.
Nintendo's new handheld will be released in Japan this Saturday, around a month ahead of the US, so their reviews might give a little insight into what we can expect from the new console's repertoire. I emphasize the "little" in that sentence because many of the games the editors reviewed aren't actually US launch titles. In fact, it looks like Japanese got at least a couple of gems early
Batman: Arkham City just keeps looking better and better. Today, we have a new set of screenshots released and damn do they look good. The first game, Batman: Arkham Asylum, was a real treat and did very well, with both critics and gamers. Batman himself is also a popular franchise these days, thanks to Christopher Nolan's films. The anticipation for this game is high and I don't think Rocksteady will let us down. Speaking about the game, Sefton Hill from Rocksteady said that:
While this information was leaked out last week, today it is official. Three new maps will be coming for Halo: Reach in March. The maps, Highlands, Condemned and Unearthed, will be available on the XBOX Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points. In addition to the announcement, we also get some screenshots and a new trailer which you can check out below.
Crysis 2 leaked out onto the internet a few days ago so I guess it was just a matter of time before we started to see some more footage from the game. The version that leaked out was an early build but it still looks pretty damn good. Recently someone uploaded the first 25 minutes of the game onto YouTube and even though it's an early build, it's pretty impressive. The full game is set to hit store shelves in March but if you can't wait that long then check out the video below.
With Crysis 2 right around the corner, EA has released a few new screens and a video that show off the new and improved Nanosuit. We also get a new video showing it off in more detail as well as giving us a look at the multiplayer.
