I, Frankenstein has found its writing brain. According to a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Lakeshore Entertainment has hired Stuart Beattie as its screenplay writer and director. Beattie is best known for his writing has worked on films such as G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Australia and 30 Days of Night.
A Darkstorm Studios graphic novel created by Kevin Grevioux, I, Frankenstein pictures a modern-day world where the classic literary monster stands between humans and a host of other supernatural creatures looking to rise up and take over. Grevioux co-created the successful werewolves vs. vampires series Underworld, also produced by Lakeshore.
CinemaCon has officially kicked itself off with the debut of three brand new posters. WB has released the posters for The Hangover Part II and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. Actress Erin Carufel will be joining Amanda Seyfried in Heitor Dhalia’s thriller Gone, penned by Allison Burnett. The film centers on a kidnapped survivor (Seyfried) who attempts to find the same kidnapper whom she believes has abducted her sister. She's convinced that the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job, but the police will not believe her and Jill knows time is running out. With no one to turn to, Jill sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.
Summit Entertainment has picked up the James Patterson adaptation I, Alex Cross, starring Tyler Perry, Matthew Fox, and Ed Burns. The character Tyler Perry will portray, Alex Cross, has been portrayed by Morgan Freeman in two films: Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. As for the rest of the cast, Fox is playing the villain and Burns is playing Cross’s partner. Paramount released the last two films, with Kiss the Girls making $60 million and Along Came a Spider making $74 million, and were interested in this film but lost out to Summit.
Casting news never gets old and today’s casting news is no different. In this edition of Casting News we got Dwayne Johnson heading further away from his family comedy roles and returning to his action roots, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges joining an ensemble cast, and Alan Rickman joining a caper comedy.
While Colin Farrell has already locked in the lead role for the upcoming Total Recall sequel, there hasn’t been too much word on who is running for the lead female role. So before the studio can move forward with its scheduled May start date and its 2012 summer release date, IndieWire (via Deadline) has uncovered a slate of actresses who are about to test for the two female leads, however, and for the most part, it’s not a terribly surprising list.
Last week we reported that Twilight: Eclipse director David Slade was chosen to helm the new Daredevil reboot for Fox. The first adaptation of Daredevil was last seen in 2003 with Ben Affleck donning the red suit and becoming The Man Without Fear. Now the director has taken the time to address Daredevil as well as other projects he is working on via his Twitter account.

Unfortunately things never came to light and now Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel director Betty Thomas has stepped up to the plate and will helm the director’s chair for this comedy.
Since Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that he would return to acting, the former Governor of California claims to have read over a dozen scripts. many of which are sequels or reboots to some of his beloved films: Predator, The Running Man, Terminator among others. According to Tom Arnold, who co-starred with Schwarzenegger in the James Cameron action film True Lies, the pair have both read and loved a script for a sequel to that film and he believes it could be the one Schwarzenegger chooses to do next.
