Fans of the long-forgotten (but uncannily ahead of its time) Japanese anime series, Star Blazers, have cause to rejoice today. Skydance Productions has confirmed that the much in-demand Christopher McQuarrie will now not only pen the script for their impending live-action adaptation, but he will be sitting in the director's seat as well.
Contrary to what The Hollywood Reporter is telling us today, sources from within Guillermo del Toro’s production company can confirm that the director’s other-worldly and currently-in-pre-production Crimson Peak intends to still shoot under its original title; and that the production has only temporarily adapted the moniker Haunted Peak as a means of securing studio space.
Explosive news (finally!) out of the ultra-secretive Star Wars: Episode VII camp today as it has been revealed that the Michael Arndt-penned script (from a presumed George Lucas-provided story outline) has been scrapped. Taking over writing duties now will be none other than Lawrence Kasdan and J.J. Abrams!
Rovio’s intergalactic smash-hit (and irritatingly-addictive) Angry Birds: Star Wars is expanding its already considerable reach with the announcement today that it will soon be available for play on multiple current-gen consoles -- and possibly the upcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Upon its initial release in 2008, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was met with near-universal derision and resentment by many fans of the storied franchise. This was due to its over-reliance on silly gags, the casting of Shia LaBeouf and a host of other cinematic infractions including (but not limited to) the infamous “nuking the fridge” sequence from early in the film.
Exciting news is emanating from the still-in-production Godzilla reboot as Urban Collector is reporting today that one of the rampaging radioactive lizard's adversaries will be a giant arachnid referred to as "Muto."
Jonas Cuarón, co-writer of this fall’s out-of-this-world success story Gravity, has inked a deal with Warner Brothers to pen the script for their long-in-development Atlantis property, The Lost City. Rumored to once have Peter Jackson circling the project, The Lost City has become a priority project for the studio now that Cuarón is on board to provide the screenplay for this decidedly earth-bound (albeit underwater) tale.
