The long-discussed NBC drama pilot, Cruel Intentions, is now set to move ahead with Sarah Michelle Gellar confirmed for the cast. The actress will reportedly reprise the role she played in the 1999 film upon which the pilot is based, and which itself was based on Les Liaisons dangereuses, written by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos in 1782.

Jeff Bridges Will Head To Shadow Country For HBO
HBO are lining up what looks to set to be a spectacular television event, with an adaptation of the award-winning, epic novel Shadow Country, by Peter Matthiessen. It is the story of the life and death of notorious outlaw E.J. Watson, who met an unfortunate end in a remote area of Florida in 1910. The tale is being adapted for television by David Milch – creator of Deadwood – and will star Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges as Watson.

Superhero Sitcom Powerless Finds Its Lead In Vanessa Hudgens
It’s true that, on occasion, the DC comic book universe has, perhaps, seemed a little serious – particularly if you consider Batman to be the most successfully adapted character across media. All that brooding, and growling and sitting in his cave has indeed created a sense of darkness that seems to permeate the whole enterprise. Soon, however, there will be television comedy called Powerless, which will be headed up by Vanessa Hudgens, and will hopefully provide an injection of levity.

What Does Deadpool’s Success Mean For Future R-Rated Superheroes?
Consider Deadpool, and its much-feted ‘hard-R’ rating. The mainstream media has been falling over itself to generate headlines about the groundbreaking nature of this latest entry into the superhero movie genre, but the reason for its success is not solely its rating. Deadpool is, indeed, a unique character, but this is not the first R-rated superhero film. Nor is it the first R-rated film about a Marvel character. It’s not even the first R-rated film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, because Deadpool is not a part of that franchise – he’s a 20th Century Fox guy, like his X-Men associates.

Pete’s Dragon Lurks In First Trailer For Disney’s Re-Imagined Classic
It may seem strange for one studio to commit to the release of two re-imaginings of past glories about orphan boys living in wooded areas – especially in the same year – but this very particular trend looks set to pay off for Walt Disney Studios in spectacular fashion, as The Jungle Book charges into theatres in April, while Pete’s Dragon is scheduled to dominate late summer. Up until now, little has been seen of this project, but with the first trailer now available, we can see that something magical this way comes.

It Is Finally Set To Shoot In Late 2016
The saga of the attempt to update the film adaptation of Stephen King’s It finally looks set to end, as producer Roy Lee confirms plans to shoot the new film later in 2016. The powerhouse producer of titles such as The Lego Movie and the How To Train Your Dragon films, as well as horror fare The Ring, The Grudge and Poltergeist, has been working on a remake of the infamous 1990 TV miniseries for some time, but it seems that the pieces are now falling into place.
