Supporting Cast Added To The 9th Life Of Louis Drax

Cameras are now rolling on the big screen adaptation of Liz Jensen’s bestselling 2004 novel, The 9th Life Of Louis Drax. Marking the screenwriting debut of Max Minghella - an actor, whose credits include The Social Network, The Ides Of March and Horns) - the supernatural thriller is being helmed by Alexandre Aja (2006’s The Hills Have Eyes), and stars Jamie Dornan (The Fall, Fifty Shades Of Grey), Sarah Gadon (Cosmopolis, Maps To The Stars), and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad). Aiden Longworth (Hector And The Search For Happiness) features as the title character – Louis Drax.

New Trailer For Comet Starring Justin Long And Emmy Rossum

The quest to make a good romantic drama is like the quest to reach the summit of Everest – many try, and most fail. Those that achieve the goal form a very small, elite group. Every year, we see production after production pack their equipment, don their cramp-ons, and strike out purposefully across the inhospitable terrain of marketing and trailers – only to arrive back at basecamp, battered and bruised by inclement critics. Comet is currently approaching the Death Zone – getting ready to make that final push to the top, as it heads toward its journey’s end, otherwise known as its release date. The Death Zone is ‘make-or-break’ – one wrong-footed move and it’s all over. But, for this small, independent movie, the odds are currently in its favour. With positive reviews from the festival circuit keeping it warm, Comet is striding onwards, armed with a confident and impressive new trailer.

New Red Band Trailer For Nightcrawler

Movie trailers are a double-edged sword. On the one hand, they are a necessary evil, required to market a project, but rarely able to capture the reality of the material they are previewing. On the other hand, with the right editor, a movie trailer can condense the very essence of a film, while withholding just enough to compel an audience to purchase a ticket for the whole thing. Which camp does the new red band trailer for Nightcrawler fall into? I hope it’s the second – but we won’t find out until October 31st.

ABC Cancels Manhattan Love Story And Orders More Selfie

In the first cull of the season, ABC has terminated the fledgling comedy series Manhattan Love Story, after it failed to recover from a shaky start by its third episode. There is much debate about the validity of ratings numbers - at a time when networks are trying to gauge viewership around DVR recordings, while simultaneously scrambling to adapt to changing viewing habits in light of media streaming and ‘binge-watching’ - but it seems the situation for the show was just too dire to continue.
