The Simpsons Streaming Service Goes Live

After 25 years on the air, The Simpsons is further demonstrating its status as an unstoppable force by launching its very own streaming service, courtesy of FX. Becoming available on Tuesday October 21st 2014, every episode of the Fox series that has ever aired – all 552 of them – will be online within a powerful website packed with additional information and formidable search capabilities. With new episodes being added the day after they are broadcast on Fox, the service can be found at SimpsonsWorld.com (in the US) and through the FXNow app.

Lost Star Joins Bryan Cranston On Trumbo Biopic

It’s been 67 years since Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo was blacklisted in the movie-making industry as a result of investigations by the House Un-American Activities Committee of the time, but his story will soon unfold on the big screen with Bryan Cranston in the lead. Directed by Jay Roach (Meet The Parents) and written by John McNamara (The New Adventures Of Superman), Trumbo has now added rising star Adewale Akkinuoye-Agbaje to its cast – bringing with him the recognition borne of his previous roles in Lost, Oz, Pompeii and Thor: The Dark World.

NBC Commits To A Bill Lawrence Pilot Of The I.T. Crowd

The I.T Crowd is something of a British institution. It is a beloved TV comedy from the pen of the incredibly talented Graham Linehan (Father Ted), which follows the slightly surreal, completely hilarious escapades of some technical support workers at a large corporation. Ultimately comprising four 6 episode seasons and a one-off ‘special’, the show aired in the UK from 2006 to 2010, with its single, triumphant return hitting screens to great acclaim in 2013. It helped launch the careers of its three main cast members – Chris O’Dowd (Dinner For Schmucks, Bridesmaids, This Is 40), Richard Ayoade (Submarine, The Watch, The Double) and Katherine Parkinson (Sherlock, The Honourable Woman), and also its main supporting player, Matt Berry (Moon, Snow White And The Huntsman). In the UK, it is widely held as the gold standard for TV comedy, and now, NBC have committed themselves to a US pilot of the show, from Scrubs creator, Bill Lawrence.

Gold Rush Returns To Discovery Channel For Season Five

It’s been the top rated show on the Discovery Channel for 69 episodes – drawing such a consistently vast audience that a pre-show program titled The Dirt was introduced for its fourth season – and now, Gold Rush is heading back to our screens with more crews, more gold, more drama and, presumably, even more viewers. Following a variety of mining teams as they dig for gold placer deposits, the reality series has followed the teams on mining expeditions through Alaska, Klondike (Yukon, Canada) and Guyana (South America) over the years. Now, as season five begins, some crews are reaping the rewards of good fortune, while others are facing the harsh consequences of bad choices.

AMC Joins Forces With UK’s Channel 4 For Humans

It’s time to get excited about TV science fiction again, as US cable network AMC partners with UK broadcaster Channel 4 to produce Humans – an eight episode series to be co-produced by UK company Kudos (Broadchurch). The project is an adaptation of the Swedish science fiction-drama titled Real Humans that aired in 2012. That source material was written by Lars Lundstrom and was described by critics as “creepy as hell”, so this English language version – from the pens of Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (Spooks) - looks very promising indeed.

Eva Longoria Has A Supernatural Anthology Series In Development At NBC

Having been popular in the 1950s, the concept of the anthology TV series had become kind of un-hip by the 1980s. Dramarama, CBS Summer Playhouse, Faerie Tale Theater and Amazing Stories were about as interesting as it got. It seems that now, however, networks just can’t get enough of the anthology format – and, since it is changing the face of television, it is hardly surprising that a growing roster of well-known names are climbing aboard the bandwagon. The latest entry on the list is an as-yet unnamed supernatural anthology series – originating from Eva Longoria's UnbeliEVAble Entertainment label - now in development at NBC.
