You might know Shia LaBeouf from those Michael Bay robot movies (admit it, you’ve seen them), or some of the other countless big Hollywood blockbusters he’s been in. And there’s no shame in that, he’s a fantastic actor. The guy’s got a lot of talent, it’s just a matter of how he chooses to use it.
If you go on Wikipedia – or any other analogous website of your choosing – and check the list of highest-grossing films of all time, you might make a (not so) shocking discovery: it’s an action extravaganza! Indeed, aside from a couple occasional flicks about Ice Queens, talking toys and sinking ships (the last of which, by the way, I have no idea why it’s there), the whole list is dominated by action movies. You have your Avengers, your Pirates, your Transformers and so and so on. In fact, about 16 of the 19 movies that have made over a billion dollars worldwide are categorized as – you guessed it – action.
After watching a new, enjoyable film, I very often tend say to myself: “Hey, this movie was fantastic, I liked it a lot – I wonder what the screenplay is like!”, after which I go about it and scour through the mystical, seemingly endless depths of the Internet, desperately trying to get my hands on as much Courier-styled text as I possibly can. Because while a script might not be as entertaining as the film itself (hopefully), I do really enjoy seeing the story in text form.
