Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair still has all of the series' quirks which fans love and detractors dislike. It's a flawed experience, but it asks players to overlook its shortcomings in order to have a laugh.
Koei Tecmo has announced additional details for their upcoming action game, Nioh, after showing off the PlayStation 4 exclusive this weekend at the PlayStation Experience. While the action role-playing game will be developed by Team Ninja, it is also being overseen by Koei founder Kou Shibusawa and Gust president Hisashi Koinuma. That's a lot of talent working on one project, so it's clear that Koei Tecmo has big plans for Nioh.
Dementium Remastered is a great example of designing around any potential hardware deficiencies. Since handhelds can't produce startling visuals that will scare players, Renegade Kid instead focused on fantastic sound design to make the short journey a terrifying one. It's a genius design choice, and one that managed to constantly keep me uncomfortable from start to end. If you're looking for some portable scares, then you can't do much better than this.

It's a great time to be a fan of adventure games. Thanks to developers such as Double Fine and Telltale Games the genre has seen a resurgence of popularity, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. One of the most interesting adventure games in the works is Pewter Games Studios' The Little Acre. Taking place in 1950s Ireland, The Little Acre blends fantasy with one of the worst time periods in the country's history.
