HBO's The Young Pope is sensual, sensational, sacrilegious and utterly sinful. It's also a hell of a good time. Jude Law gives one of his richest, juiciest performances to date in a role that will be one of his most defining. Thank God for HBO.
Just like the Star Wars franchise, the Transformers movies aren't going anywhere any time soon. This summer, we'll see our fifth installment in the series roll into theaters with Transformers: The Last Knight. Whether you love these explosive, bombastic films or want them all to burn in a blazing tire fire, Paramount is still making them and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
In our peak television age, National Geographic hasn't made much of an impact. It seems that they're hoping to change that, however, with Genius, their first dramatic series starring Geoffrey Rush as none other than Albert Einstein. The anthology drama follows the world's greatest innovators one season at a time, and viewers can now get a glimpse at what season 1 holds in store with the show's newest trailer.
Hulu doesn't share the same ranks as Netflix and Amazon just yet, but the streaming site is slowly but surely building its own prestigious status. Casual, 11.22.63 and The Path, for instance, have all demonstrated their growth, and they'll only continue to rise with this year's The Handmaid's Tale, which now has a beautiful and unsettling first trailer and poster.
It doesn't take much to make President-elect Donald J. Trump appear villainous. Just look at his Twitter profile if you don't believe us. One Tweet in particular though has caused quite a bit of commotion recently, and has now been turned into something pretty amusing.
Terrence Malick (The Tree of Life) shot his latest effort, Song to Song, in the heart of Austin, Texas, and it's also where the filmmaker lives. As such, it makes sense, then, that the notoriously media-shy auteur will bring his new film back to the City of the Violent Crown later this spring to have its world premiere at the 2017 South by Southwest Film Festival, where it'll kick off the festivities.
Mother and child horror films aren't hard to find, especially these days. The Babadook might be the best of the bunch in recent years, but there's still Goodnight Mommy, Lyle the Carrie remake, Prevenge and now, Don't Knock Twice, starring Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff, which will bring witches and evil spirits into the equation.
Superhero movies/TV shows always focus on the ones with the powers. But what about those other, lowly people, the ones trying to get through their nine-to-five shift without their building collapsing onto them? That's the basis, in part, for NBC's DC adaptation Powerless, a workplace sitcom with an added twist, which is set to premiere early next month. To announce its not-so-supersized debut, the station released the show's first official trailer.
FX's Archer has been known to reinvent itself before, especially during its later seasons. The last outing found the gang moving to Los Angeles to start their own private detective agency, and season eight finds them in a new place entirely, "Dreamland." But that's not the only change set to come to the show.
Morten Tyldum has Morten Tyldum has seen better days. The Oscar-nominated director behind The Imitation Game and Headhunters found himself receiving some of the worst reviews of his career with Passengers, and the box office take for the expensive blockbuster hasn't looked much better. Some thought it might put the Norweigan filmmaker in director's jail, in fact, but that doesn't seem to be the case, as he's now set to helm the pilot for Amazon's newest dramatic series, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.seen better days. The Oscar-nominated director behind The Imitation Game and Headhunters found some of the worst reviews of his career (and possibly ever) with Passengers, his latest, and the box office for the expensive blockbuster hasn't looked much better. Some thought it might put the Norweigan filmmaker in director's jail, in fact, but that doesn't seem to be the case. He's set to direct the pilot for Amazon's newest dramatic series, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. Sometimes, Hollywood gives second chances.
