Armie Hammer jokes about ‘roofie-ing’ people with date-rape drug 4 years after cannibalism allegations killed his career

Apparently, Hammer "loves" doing this to people.

Actor Armie Hammer has made controversial comments about drugging people during a recent podcast appearance. The 38-year-old star spoke on his own show Armie HammerTime on July 28, where he discussed his past heavy marijuana use.

Hammer was talking about a time when he smoked “upwards of, like, 15 to 20 joints a day” when he made the shocking statement. The actor said he enjoyed getting people extremely high with marijuana to the point where they could barely function.

During the podcast, Hammer made a joke about “roofie-ing people” with marijuana. He said “I loved marijuana roofie-ing people” while laughing about his past behavior. The comment referenced Rohypnol, which is commonly known as a date-rape drug used to make people unconscious without their knowledge.

Hammer faced pushback during his own podcast

Even his podcast co-host Ashton Ramsey told Hammer he should not make such comments. Ramsey urged the actor to “self-censor” instead of making jokes about drugging people. But Hammer continued with his comments, saying “I loved poisoning people” before explaining what he really meant.

The actor then clarified that he was talking about smoking marijuana with people until they became extremely high. He said he loved getting people so stoned that they would say things like “I’m so stoned, I can’t find my feet.” Hammer admitted he probably “smoked more marijuana than anyone on earth” and enjoyed smoking with other people.

Hammer also shared a story about getting Johnny Depp very high before a press event for their movie The Lone Ranger. He said movie executives stopped letting them spend time together after that incident. The actor revealed that during press tours, the studio would keep them separated and never let them do interviews together.

These comments come four years after serious allegations destroyed Hammer’s acting career. In 2021, several of his ex-girlfriends accused him of rape and made claims about cannibalism fantasies. The accusations went viral on social media and led to Hammer losing major movie roles and his talent agency.

Hammer was going through a divorce from his wife Elizabeth Chambers when the allegations surfaced. The former couple has two children together, a 10-year-old daughter named Harper and an 8-year-old son named Ford. The actor has repeatedly denied all the accusations against him since they first appeared online.

In 2023, Hammer told AirMail magazine that his alleged rape of ex-girlfriend Effie Angelova was actually a “consensual scene.” He has also addressed claims made by another ex-girlfriend, Courtney Vucekovich, who said he talked about wanting to barbecue and eat her rib. While Hammer denied being a cannibal, he did admit to once biting into a warm animal heart.

The actor returned to public life when he started his podcast last year, following his departure from a Florida rehab facility in late 2021. In the show’s first episode in October 2024, Hammer actually made jokes about the cannibalism scandal. He said “I’m not going to lie, I kind of like the cannibal stuff now” and added “I’m just like, ‘Hey, I’m a cannibal.'” His recent comments about drugging people show he continues to make controversial statements despite the serious nature of the allegations that ended his Hollywood career. Since his fall from grace, Hammer has been working as a timeshare salesman in the Cayman Islands, a far cry from his former A-list aspirations.
