The MAGA bootlickers are upset with Billie Eilish once again. This time the pop singer seems to have ruffled their feathers with her Grammy speech where she made her strong feelings about ICE known. During her speech she claimed that “nobody is illegal on stolen land,” a statement which has certainly rubbed a few people the wrong way.
ICE activities have certainly not been popular with the American people and Eilish’s statement at the Grammys no doubt reflects a lot of people’s thoughts right now. However, many were angered by her speech, labeling her out of touch and a hypocrite. Journalist Emily Austin recorded her reaction and posted it on X. The clip has since gone viral along with Austin’s captions which claims Eilish’s “rant” was “Painful to listen to.”
Thankfully Austin is in the minority with her opinion as most of the replies were simply roasting her and reiterating what Billie Eilish said herself. Others asked why Austin was talking about the pop singer when she should probably be focusing on the Epstein files.
Critics try to paint Billie Eilish as a hypocrite
Another approach taken by one journalist was to argue that, if all land in the U.S. is “stolen land” then Eilish’s $3 million mansion is technically stolen land and so she shouldn’t be allowed to prevent people from entering her property. One journalist from GB News by the name of Ben Leo filmed himself loitering outside the pop star’s home, demanding to be let in.
His purpose was to make Eilish look like a hypocrite for not practicing what she preaches but ultimately he’s made himself look more “stupid” according to those who replied to his immature excuse for journalism. Many pointed out that comparing borders to privacy was a huge stretch and that Billie has had to deal with stalkers trying to break into her home before so fencing her property off is understandable.
What’s more is that Leo’s argument seems to intentionally ignore the point that Eilish was trying to make. Her speech was a protest against the activity of ICE, at no point did she say people should give up their homes or land for the cause. No sane human would tell you that you can’t express a pro-immigration opinion unless you’re allowing literal strangers into your home, but somehow that’s all Ben and many others took from her speech.
Leo’s little stunt might sound like clever rebuttal if you only think about it for half a second but the fact is most people see where she’s coming from. ICE has proven that, despite being a federal agency, it is not working for the American people and the Trump administration’s harsh stance on immigrants, legal or otherwise, is killing confidence in the government. But apparently some people find it easier to be mad at a popstar than they do politicians.
