BTS’ Kim Taehyung becomes the top Instagram influencer, surpassing names like Cristiano Ronaldo and Billie Eilish

Best to leave the throne open for BTS' IT boy, Kim Taehyung.

It is time to step aside and leave the number one spot to BTS‘ Kim Taehyung. Mononymously known as V, the BTS singer and dancer has been reportedly crowned the top Instagram influencer, surpassing even soccer mogul Cristiano Ronaldo and the one and only Billie Eilish.

Initially reported by SocialBook, an influencer marketing tool, the highest average of likes previously belonged to the Portuguese player Ronaldo, with an average of 8.9 million likes per post. While an understated impressionable feat, the soccer player was recently dethroned by BTS’ IT-boy, in a swift manner. With an account created just a little over a year ago, the software platform reported that V has an average of 15.6 million likes per post, surpassing even names like Eilish, Kylie Jenner, and Lionel Messi.

Undefeated when it comes to engagement, V still has a much smaller following than the aforementioned celebrities. With only 57 million followers on his Instagram account, the singer is still surpassed by Ronaldo who is the most followed individual on the social media platform as of March 2023, with over 560 million followers. Regardless of the number, Taehyung still counts with twice as much engagement as the soccer player, achieving the feat with a 15-month-old account.

The feat was also announced alongside V’s engagement rate for the last 60 days which was noted to be the world’s highest, with an average of 13.4 million likes in one single post with 23.1% of his followers clicking on it. In addition to his average of likes, the singer known for skyrocketing sales on every single item he touches was also crowned the first Instagram user to have all of his 77 posts reach 10 million likes.

Currently, the BTS member is awaiting his mandatory conscription during BTS’ break, as he works on his solo projects outside of the group, including his recent participation in the South Korean cooking program, Jinny’s Kitchen.
