David Harbour has acknowledged his status as a so-called Hollywood ‘daddy,’ conceding that both himself and fellow actor Pedro Pascal “occupy a certain place in the Daddy-verse.” Speaking of his ‘daddy’ membership during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Harbour made reference to the HBO series The Last of Us, which prompted questions around his relationship with Pascal. “I’ve been loving The Last of Us, they really killed it with that show,” Harbour said. “I know [Pedro Pascal] very well, actually.”
“We occupy a certain realm of the Daddy-Verse,” the actor joked. It marks the latest instance of the Stranger Things star making reference to himself and Pascal as ‘daddies.’ During a 2022 interview discussing his film Violent Night — in which he starred as Santa Claus — Harbour floated the idea of a cinematic universe starring three beloved Hollywood ‘daddies.’ “We gotta get Pedro [Pascal] and Oscar [Isaac] to play the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy in the next iteration,” Harbour joked.
“The Santa cinematic universe with a bunch of ‘daddies’ as imaginary creatures.” Harbour, Pascal and Isaac are among a number of actors who have been dubbed ‘internet daddies’ in recent months, with the Twittersphere also placing the likes of Jeff Goldblum, Jon Hamm and Stanley Tucci in the exclusive daddy club. Both Harbour and Pascal have taken the term in their stride, with the actor telling Digital Spy that it’s “somewhat gratifying to be in my 40s and have this happen.”
He continued: “I get a little grizzled and start losing my hair, and everyone starts to think I’m sexy, and I’m okay with that.” Pascal, meanwhile, had this to say to Entertainment Tonight regarding the internet’s obsession with him: “I’m your cool, slutty Daddy.” Earlier this month, Pascal caught Twitter’s attention once again, after the official Spider-Verse account sent him birthday wishes and dubbed him “THE Spider-Daddy.”
Though Harbour and Pascal have yet to appear together on screen, it was revealed last year that the pair will star in the upcoming limited series My Dentist’s Murder Trial, currently in development at HBO. Elsewhere, Harbour is gearing up for the release of Gran Turismo, a biographical film based on an award-winning player of the video game franchise of the same name.
