Davidson says fatherhood is his ‘dream’ as he vows to give baby ‘the childhood I didn’t have’ following 9/11 loss

Take care of something, unlike 9/11.

Pete Davidson is opening up about his upcoming journey into fatherhood after his girlfriend Elsie Hewitt recently announced her pregnancy. The former Saturday Night Live star shared his thoughts at the New York premiere of The Home on Tuesday.

According to Page Six, the 31-year-old comedian expressed his happiness about becoming a father for the first time, telling E! News that he feels very lucky and happy about the news. His excitement comes shortly after Hewitt, 29, made the pregnancy announcement on Instagram last Wednesday.

Davidson, whose father Scott died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, spoke about his plans for parenthood. He shared his desire to ‘be able to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn’t have,’ reflecting on his personal struggles and background,” adding that he wants to give his child what he missed out on in his own childhood.

Friends and family show support for Davidson’s new chapter

The comedian has received strong support from his friends in the entertainment industry, including Adam Sandler, who has provided him with valuable advice about parenthood. Davidson mentioned that everyone has been telling him he will be great at being a father and that it will be the best thing he’ll ever do in his life.

Hewitt, a London-born model and actress who has been dating Davidson since March, shared the news through social media. She posted several photos, including one showing Davidson cradling her stomach, along with footage from an ultrasound appointment. She humorously captioned the post, “welp now everyone knows we had sex.”

This development aligns with Davidson’s previously expressed desires for fatherhood. In a 2022 interview with Kevin Hart on Hart to Heart, he described himself as a ‘family guy’ – a sentiment that aligns with what makes Davidson so appealing to audiences– and said having a kid was his favorite thing that he had yet to achieve. He also mentioned wanting to improve himself to make parenthood easier when the time came.

Davidson’s family is thrilled about the pregnancy news. The comedian has consistently emphasized the importance of family in his life, and this new chapter represents the fulfillment of a long-held dream for him.
