Despite the divorce, Ben Affleck can’t stop complimenting Jennifer Lopez at ‘Accountant 2’ premiere

Ben Affleck's Accountant 2 premiere became a platform for praising his ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez.

The Los Angeles premiere of The Accountant 2 wasn’t just about showing off Ben Affleck’s new movie. It was also a chance for him to publicly praise his ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez. Even though they finalized their divorce in January 2025, Affleck is still sending praise Lopez’s way.

As found by ET and TMZ, The event was full of famous guests, including co-stars Jon Bernthal and J.K. Simmons, as well as reality TV stars like Larsa Pippen, Heidi and Spencer Pratt, Jason Oppenheim, and comedian Matt Rife. However, the main focus stayed on Affleck’s kind words about Lopez. Despite their divorce, Affleck had nothing but good things to say about her.

He especially talked about how close she was with his kids and how much she had helped them. Lopez’s own children were even at the premiere, which showed how friendly things still were between them after the split. Affleck said their attendance was because they liked the movie, but it also proved that the families were still on good terms.

Affleck said, “Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them. I love her kids. They are wonderful. She’s enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity, who I adore and I’m grateful to.”

Affleck’s compliments weren’t just a one-time thing. He made it clear that he was annoyed by how the media always tries to make stories more dramatic by focusing on negativity. He insisted he only had positive things to say about Lopez and called her an incredibly important person with strong character.

This focus on staying positive was very different from how most famous couples are treated when they break up since they usually face a lot of harsh criticism.

Lopez didn’t show up at the premiere, but Affleck’s comments still said a lot about their relationship now. Her absence might have been a choice to keep their personal lives private, but his constant praise showed that they still respected each other and wanted to keep things healthy, especially for the sake of co-parenting.

Interestingly, Affleck’s own life seems to have influenced his role in The Accountant 2, per Page Six. While promoting the movie, he talked about how his character struggles with dating and relationships, something he admitted he could relate to. He joked about how awkward his character is at flirting, saying it’s something a lot of people go through.

He even shared a funny story about his character trying to line dance on a date, hinting that his own dating experiences helped make his performance feel more real.
