Halle Berry accused of abusing son by ex-husband: ‘jumping on him, putting her hands around his neck, and choking him’

Berry's attorney says her ex has "a well-documented history of erratic, possessive and violent behavior."

Halle Berry‘s ex-husband, actor Olivier Martinez, has accused her of physically abusing her 12-year-old son Maceo. As per Variety, Martinez has filed for a temporary restraining order against Berry, alleging that the abuse took place just days ago.

The application alleges that on Sept. 26, the Oscar-winning actress “physically abused our son Maceo, by jumping on him, putting her hands around his neck and choking him.” Consequently, Martinez is asking for sole custody of their son.

The petition claims this is part of an ongoing pattern of Berry’s violent “attacks” on Maceo and Martinez over the last few years, saying: “These other incidents involve additional physical attacks against our son, as well as verbal and emotional abuse from Petitioner to me.”

“Entirely meritless and deliberately misleading”

He also claims that Berry “told our son that I am ‘a white b***h trying to rob a Black woman’ due to child support issues. Ms. Berry then asked our son, ‘How do you feel about that as a Black man?’” The filing also says that he has text messages from Berry apologizing to him, says Maceo “may be traumatized” and does not want to stay at Berry’s home, and requests that Berry be ordered not to be drunk or on other substances during visitation.

Berry’s attorney, Marina Beck, responded to the filing furiously: “To say this filing is entirely meritless and deliberately misleading would be an understatement.” She claims that it’s Martinez who is harming Maceo, arguing:

“There is voluminous evidence, including numerous judicial rulings, that Olivier Martinez repeatedly violated court orders and interfered with necessary therapeutic and educational interventions to the detriment of his and Halle Berry’s minor son Maceo — misconduct for which Mr. Martinez has already been legally sanctioned.”

Beck says Berry is “deeply saddened” by her ex-husband’s “outrageous conduct”, and accuses him of having “a well-documented history of erratic, possessive and violent behavior”, but “she will not allow it to deter her from fighting for Maceo’s best interests and providing him with the love and support he needs.”

Berry and Martinez first began dating in 2010, with Martinez getting into a physical confrontation with Berry’s former partner, Gabriel Aubry, that allegedly saw Martinez threatening to kill him. Berry and Martinez married in 2013, and Maceo was born later that year. The couple divorced in 2016 and told the press, “We move forward with love and respect for one another.”

Aside from her attorney’s response to the filing, neither Berry nor her representatives have commented on the allegations, which are currently unproven.
